The Halloween Season officially kicks off at Disneyland Resort in just a few short weeks (September 7th) and we here at Disney Addicts thought we’d give you a quick rundown of all the spooktacular fun that awaits. From Mickey’s Halloween Party, to Halloween makeovers of your favorite attractions, it is definitely one of the best times of year to be at the theme parks. Here’s a sneak peek of all of the fun that awaits visitors at Disneyland Resort this Autumn.
Disneyland Resort
Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy – During the Halloween Season, Space Mountain in Tomorrowland becomes Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy. This indoor coaster provides guests with a bone-chilling ride through a ghost galaxy where you’ll be surrounded eerie screams, sound effects, and intergalactic phantasms.
Haunted Mansion Holiday – Space Mountain is not the only Disneyland attraction that gets a fun Halloween transformation. Each year in the lead-in to Halloween, the much-loved classic attraction Haunted Mansion becomes Haunted Mansion Holiday. Inspired by the classic “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” the ride celebrates both Halloween and Christmas with Jack Skellington’s unique take on both holidays!
Dia de los Muertos – Head over to Frontierland for this colorful tribute to the Day of the Dead that features a musical trio of iconic skeleton figures, brightly colored flowers, exhibitions and decorative items. This area of the park is an Instagrammers dream!
Mickey’s Halloween Party – This after-hours event is back again this season for spooktacular Halloween fun. On these special nights, you’ll find Halloween-themed entertainment, Disney characters, trick or treating and so much more. Some of the highlights include:
- Halloween Screams – A supernatural fireworks show emceed by the Master of Scare-omonies Jack Skellington.
- Frightfully Fun Parade – Lead by the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow who rides on Main Street U.S.A on his black steed, this parade is filled with ghoulish delights including appearances by the grim grinning ghosts from the Haunted Mansion attraction, Vampirina, Jack Skellington and more.
- Villains Square – Meet some of Disney’s most formidable baddies gathered together to meet with guests and pose for photos. Also be on the lookout for other Disney friends who have been known to pop into the square in their favorite Halloween costumes.
Mickey’s Halloween Party is a separately ticketed event. Tickets may be purchased online at Disneyland.com/party as well as at 714-781-4400. Tickets are also available on the night pending availability.

Disney California Adventure Park:
Halloween Decor – One of our favorite things about visiting Disney California Adventure in the Autumn has to be the incredible decor. Upon arriving at the park, you’re greeted by Oogie Boogie from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” His overside silhouette beckons guests into the park. Additional Halloween-inspired touches include a swarm of bats hovering around Carthay Circle Restaurant, and a 10-foot tall statue of the Headless Horseman.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark – A highlight of the Halloween Season at Disneyland Resort, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT gets a riotous Halloween transformation. As the sun starts to set, the attraction goes dark before powering back up with special lighting effects. This change is extended to the ride itself. During this special Halloween version, the Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector’s Fortress but have accidentally left Groot behind. Guests must help Rocket distract the creatures that have been released to save him.
Vampirina – Hot off of her success on Disney Junior, Vampirina will be visiting Disney California Adventure Park starting on September 7th to meet guests and pose for photos. She’ll also be making special appearances during the “Frightfully Fun Parade” at Mickey’s Halloween Party.
Radiator Screams – During the Halloween Season, Cars Land pulls out all the stop to celebrate the season. The entire area is given a Haul-O-Ween makeover as Lightning McQueen, Mater and the gang don Halloween costumes and decorate their homes for the season. But the fun doesn’t stop there. Popular Cars Land attractions are transformed. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters is transformed into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.
In addition to all of the exciting Halloween happenings listed above guests can also enjoy a wide array of tasty Halloween themed treats, special entertainment and so much more. So what are you waiting for? Now is the perfect time to start planning your Halloween visit to Disneyland!
