Whether you are visiting Walt Disney World before your cruise or just flying in the day before, you still have to get to Port Canaveral. I’m here to tell you how to get from Disney World or the airport to your Disney cruise ship!
Let’s start out with those who are taking a land and sea vacation who are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. Disney offers bus transportation from your Disney resort to Port Canaveral. This bus is similar to the Magical Express but is not a free service. The cost is $35 per person one way and is the same for both adults and children. The ride will take approximately two hours depending on the order of resorts they pick up from. The night before your cruise, Disney will slip a letter under your door or hang it from your doorknob. This letter will give you all the information you need to know for embarkation day including your pick up time. Typically the bus will pick you up between 10 AM and 1 PM giving you plenty of time to check-in and check out the ship before sailing away. The best part is that if you choose this option, you don’t have to worry about your luggage! Any luggage you want to go right to the ship, just add the Disney Cruise Line luggage tags and place them outside your resort door. They’ll start picking up all luggage around 8 AM and the next time you see it, it will be in your stateroom on the cruise ship.
If you fly into Orlando and stay at the Hyatt hotel in the airport, you can also use this transportation service with just a few slight differences. Once you check into the hotel airport, make sure to tell them that you are using Disney Cruise Line transfers. You’ll receive a similar letter with all the embarkation information and they’ll also take your luggage if you leave it inside your stateroom. Just make sure you put the Disney Cruise Line luggage tags on it so it’ll get to your stateroom on the cruise ship. The morning of the cruise head down to side B on level 1 with your day bag and all important documentation and they’ll get you on your way.
There are also a few other options you can choose whether you are flying in the day before or staying at a Disney hotel. The first would be to take an Uber, Lyft or a taxi. The ride is about 45 minutes to an hour. On Uber or Lyft, it would cost approximately $60 one way. Another option is to rent a car from either the airport or Disney World and drop it off at the port. There are plenty of different car rental places available at the port including Hertz, Budget and National Car Rental. The next option I have available for you is to purchase a private car to take you and your family. There are many different companies available with a quick google search. Some of these car services even include a stop at a grocery store if you want to bring bottled water or adult beverages on the ship with you that you can’t fly with. Finally, if you decide to drive to Port Canaveral in your own car you can park at the port for a fee. The cost for this is approximately $17 per day so it can add up if you decide to embark on a longer cruise.
As you can see, there are tons of options for every family and budget. No matter how you decide to get to Port Canaveral, you will have a magical time aboard Disney Cruise Line!
