We will have to wait a bit longer to enjoy the new Mary Poppins attraction and the new version of Spaceship Earth.
Epcot was set to have a big transformation in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, adding new attractions and shows, but unfourtunally due to being close for so long that is going to take a bit longer.
One of the attractions we are the most excited to see is the world of Mary Poppins coming to life at the UK pavilion!
Can you imagine stepping into Cherry Tree Lane as you make your way to the main attraction? We can’t wait!
Another one that has been put on hold is Spaceship Earth. The ride was supposed to go under refurbishment back in May but due to the parks being close it was pushed back. One good thing is that if you are visiting Epcot soon you will still get to go on it!
The changes are still set to happen on a later date but there is no confirmation about a date yet. One of the new things you will get to see after the refurbishment is done is a new version of Egypt transformed through the power of light.
You will also hear a new narration and see how light plays a central role in our shared human journey, coming to life in dynamic ways in a celebrations of the magic that’s possible when we all come together.
Here’s is Disney’s statement about these delays:
“As with most businesses during this period, we are further evaluating long-term project plans. The decision was made to postpone the development of the “Mary Poppins”-inspired attraction and Spaceship Earth at this time.”
We also noticed that on the video playing inside The Epcot Experience, they no longer talk about Mary Poppins or Spaceship Earth. Take a look:
As of now, there’s no word on any other delays but keep checking back for more updates!
