As you know, Disney recently announced the re-theming of Splash Mountain to The Princess and The Frog and we couldn’t be more excited!
Anika Noni, who voiced Tiana back in 2009 shared some new details about the attraction and what the storyline will be like.
“I know that the ride is going to continue into a Mardi Grass party” mentioned Anika. “Anytime you talk about Mardi Grass, the music has to be fantastic. Im hoping Louis will get to play and make us laugh. It should be a little thrilling, but it also should be just a whole lot of fun.”
The project Imagineers also shared that the ride storyline will pick up after the final kiss scene and follow Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure featuring some of the powerful music from the film, as they prepare for their first ever Mardi Gras performance! Sounds fantastic!
With the change of Splash Mountain to a Princess and the Frog theme, is normal that people are starting to wonder if there are plans for a restaurant just like Tiana’s Palace in the movie.
“People keep asking me like i’m in charge of making the restaurant” said Anika. “Im like, one thing at a time!. But people are excited. That makes me feel good because it’s been 11 years since the movie came out. For people to still have a great, excited, motivated love for Princess Tiana and for the movie is really wonderful.”
We think is a wonderful idea and a new restaurant inspired in the movie would be a great addition to the new attraction.
“I’ve been looking forward to a Tiana’s Palace for years” she said. “I agree with the fans that it would be great. I have dreams of them partnering with Cafe du Monde in New Orleans on some real deal beignets, having some fantastic shrimp and grits and king cake during Mardi Gras season. And the occasional second line through the joint…Basically all the things i love!”
Oh that sounds fantastic! We could definitely can get used to that, but for now we will have to wait and see.
But hey remember dreams do come true in New Orleans! So let’s not lose hope!
