What Should I Pack When I Head To The Parks?

Park Bag

When it comes to being prepared for Disney, there are definitely things you can do ahead of time to ensure your days at the Parks go smoothly. Like when you’re packing a bag for the Parks for example you will definitely want to “Pack Smart” and fill it with useful items that will help you get the most out of your Disney days.  To give you an idea of where to start, here are some items that I would never head to the parks without:

Ponchos: The Orlando weather can be unpredictable at best – so I recommend being well prepared for all the elements! Ponchos are a must have.  You can buy disposable ones at the dollar store, or nicer ones at target/Walmart.

Sunscreen: On the flip side, the suns rays can be pretty potent in Orlando so sunscreen is also a must have. Even if you apply it before you leave for the Parks, you will want to bring it with you. I advise that you reapply every hour or two (this may seem excessive, but it is NOT – trust me!).

Hoodies: For those traveling during the cooler months, these are another must bring weather item – it can get chilly once the sun goes down, and you don’t want to have to buy a expensive sweatshirts or jackets while at the parks to keep you warm.

Snacks: You never know when hunger will strike and if it happens while you’re in the middle of a 2 hour wait for Space Mountain, you will want to be prepared. Granola Bars, nuts, trail mix, dried fruit, pretzels are all easy-to-transport snacks that would be perfect for toting along to the parks. As a bonus, you also just might save some money by bringing along some of your own snack items and avoiding those steep theme park prices.

Reusable Water Bottles: Many spots in the parks offer free ice water (including most Quick Service and Table Service eateries). Though they do have disposable cups at the ready, having refillable bottles makes it easier to grab some water and re-hydrate on-the-go.

Change of Clothes: And no we don’t just mean for the children. Spare socks are a must have – in case of sweat or rain and throw in an extra shirt or a pair of shorts while you’re at it.  Clothes can get wet, get torn, get covered in the chocolate from a Mickey’s Ice Cream Bar so back-ups are always a good idea.

Spares: Spare pens are good to have (in case your little one loses their special Mickey one that goes with that autograph book…). I also like to have spare batteries for my camera (or a charger pack for my phone) just in case.

First Aid Kit:  I tote along a small first aid kit with me to the Parks – nothing insane, just some band aids and Neosporin, as well as a few common over the counter medications (like Tums, Tylenol, etc), and I make sure I have the day’s prescription meds for everyone too just in case.

Ziploc bags: Having a few of these packaged away in assorted sizes are helpful whether it be to save that half eaten churro for later or store wet clothing.

In case you can’t tell, in addition to being organized and planning ahead, being prepared is something I think is pretty important when it comes to planning your magical getaway. When it comes to Disney vacation planning – I find that bringing along the above items to the parks just helps the day go that much more smoothly, and gives me the chance to fully enjoy all the magic of Disney World without the stress.
