September may just be my favorite month for a trip to Walt Disney World
Before my family and I moved to Central Florida, we would visit Walt Disney World at least one time each year. We traveled in a variety of months and seasons, ranging from post-holiday January to the Halloween season to the Holiday season (we even braved the Christmas week and Thanksgiving day crowds in the past!). While the world-renowned resort is enchanting year-round, September stands out as perhaps my favorite month to visit. From lower crowd levels to the festive Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the pleasant weather, September offers a uniquely enjoyable experience for Disney enthusiasts. Let’s delve into why September may be the best month for a Walt Disney World vacation.

Lower Crowd Levels
One of the most significant advantages of visiting Walt Disney World in September is the lower crowd levels compared to peak summer months. With schools back in session and most summer vacations coming to an end, the theme parks experience a decrease in attendance. As a result, you can explore the attractions, shows, and restaurants with shorter wait times, allowing you to make the most of your time and create lasting memories with your loved ones without the hustle and bustle of larger crowds.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
The much-anticipated Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is well underway during the month of September. This specially-ticketed event runs on select nights from August through Halloween, transforming the Magic Kingdom into a spooktacular wonderland. From Boo-to-You Halloween Parades to bewitching fireworks displays, Disney characters dressed in their Halloween finest, and unique trick-or-treating opportunities, this event guarantees a ghoulishly good time for guests of all ages. So, if you’re a fan of the spooky season, September is the ideal time to embrace the Halloween spirit at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Pleasant Weather
While Central Florida can be scorching hot in the peak summer months of July and August, those high temps start to fall off in September. The temperatures are still warm, making it perfect for enjoying water parks and outdoor attractions, when humidity tends to be lower, creating a more comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere for exploring the theme parks. The EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival will be in full swing, and the weather in September is perfect for snacking around the world!
Special Offers and Discounts
Due to the lower demand in September, Disney often provides special offers and discounts to attract visitors during this time. These can include reduced hotel rates, dining packages, or ticket promotions, which can significantly contribute to cost savings on your Disney vacation. By taking advantage of these deals, you can experience the magic of Disney without putting too much strain on your budget.
September offers a unique and enchanting experience for those planning a Walt Disney World vacation. The lower crowd levels allow for a more relaxed and enjoyable visit, while Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party brings extra excitement and spooktacular festivities. Enjoy the delightful weather, take advantage of special offers, and revel in the extended park hours to make the most of your magical getaway. So, if you’re considering a trip to Walt Disney World, September is undoubtedly the perfect time to experience the magic at its finest!
