From when the holiday decorations go up in early November, to when they come down on the 1st of January, we can’t think of a better way to spend the holidays than at Walt Disney World. The holidays at Disney are an extravaganza of sights, sounds, tastes, and smells and we are here to help you navigate your way through and make sure you experience the best Disney has to offer during your magical holiday stay!
Mickey’s Verry Merry Christmas Party
On select nights starting November 8 until December 22 tickets may be purchased for this one-of-a-kind Christmas party hosted by your favorite Disney characters. The party takes place at the Magic Kingdom and lasts from 7 pm until midnight. Included in this epic celebration are dozens of open rides and attractions, special character meets and greets, loads of special holiday treats to eat and drink, Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, and of course, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show. There are also event-exclusive dining options that can be purchased as party add-ons. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is definitely at the top of our Disney Holiday list!
*Note- this party is a special, ticketed event and requires separate purchase from park admission
EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays
This year from November 25th to December 30th, guests can experience the holiday traditions and cultures from all 11 nations featured in Epcot’s World Showcase. Guests can enjoy music, festive decor, and even seasonal flavors offered during this special event. This holiday festival has so much to offer, including the Candle Light Processional, the Holiday Cookie Stroll, and Joyful! A Celebration of the Season. No additional purchase or ticket (beyond admission to Epcot) is required to attend this magical festival.
The Christmas Tree Trail at Disney Springs
This year Disney Springs will yet again be home to the ‘Christmas Tree Trail‘ attraction from November 11 to January 8th. Nothing says “Holidays at Disney” quite like a walkthrough of meticulously decorated, beautifully themed Christmas trees- and did we mention it’s completely free? Guests are free to snap photos at each tree or take advantage of the many Disney Photo Pass opportunities as they leisurely walk through and admire each tree. At the end of the trail, there is even a very special meet and greet with the big man in red himself!
The Grand Floridian Gingerbread House
The holidays at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort are a magical sight to behold, and at the center of the magic lies the iconic Grand Floridian Gingerbread House. This holiday masterpiece stands 14 ft tall and is made from over 5,000 individual gingerbread shingles! An entire team spends over 400 hours baking the gingerbread and over 160 hours on construction and decoration! Gingerbread House got you hungry for sweets? No problem, from 10 am to 10 pm The Bake Shop located right in the Grand Floridian lobby is open to satisfy that sweet tooth. While you are basking in the glory of the Gingerbread House, be sure to look for the “hidden Mickeys” incorporated throughout!
Discover the Beautifully Decked-Out Resorts
Another fun, free activity to enjoy during the holidays at Disney is to book a dining reservation at another resort and see the beautiful holiday decorations. Whether it’s the rustic ambiance of The Wilderness Lodge or the handcrafted village (complete with running train) at Yacht Club, you can’t go wrong exploring a different resort and the magical Christmas spirit their individual and unique decor evokes.
