As perks like Disney’s Magical Express service are a thing of the past, more and more guests are considering staying off property for their next Disney vacation. Off property refers to any accommodations that are not owned and operated by Disney. However, guests are pleased to find out that some hotels, called good neighbor hotels, actually provide nearly the same perks as Disney-owned hotels. Let’s go over some pros and cons of staying off property.
Pros
One of the largest pros about choosing a non-Disney-owned hotel would definitely be the cost. We’ve seen Disney’s resort prices rise significantly in the past few years, especially at the deluxe resort level. Typically, guests can find nice resorts very comparable to a deluxe Disney resort for much less. Another pro is that good neighbor hotels sometimes offer the same benefits as Disney hotels. For instance, early park entrance and extended evening hours. These “off-property” hotels are all offering early park entry:
- Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
- Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
- Walt Disney World Swan Reserve
- Shades of Green on Walt Disney World Resort
- B Resort & Spa Lake Buena Vista
- Double Tree Suites by Hilton Orlando
- Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace
- Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista
- Holiday Inn Orlando
- Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista
- Wyndham Lake Buena Vista
- Four Seasons Resort Orlando
- Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek
- Waldorf Astoria Orlando
These hotels are considered deluxe resorts and will grant guests access to extended evening park hours:
- Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
- Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
- Walt Disney World Swan Reserve
- Shades of Green on Walt Disney World Resort
Cons
Of course, there are cons to staying off property too. Many guests feel like they are right inside the magic when they stay at a Disney resort and just don’t feel the magic when staying elsewhere. Disney’s resorts have beautiful themes and are famous for having top-notch customer service. Transportation is also a huge pro when staying on property. Even though many other hotels offer shuttle service to and from the parks, it’s not always as convenient or comfortable as Disney’s transportation. At some Disney resorts, guests even have multiple transportation options, such as water taxis, monorails, or the Skyliner.
Choosing accommodations when planning a Disney Vacation can be an overwhelming task. It’s nice to know what all of the options are!
