Sugar Rush Needs to Replace Tomorrowland Speedway in the Magic Kingdom

For decades, the Tomorrowland Speedway has given children a chance to drive their very own car on a fun and scenic track. Even though this attraction is still operating in Tomorrowland, we think it’s overdue for a major upgrade. After all, we can certainly think of one better replacement…a speedway resigned after Wreck-It Ralph’s Sugar Rush game!

Tomorrowland Speedway

Put the pedal to the metal in your very own hotrod and cruise along a scenic miniature motorway.

The ride is designed after the Indianapolis Speedway, but with families and young drivers in mind. It’s one of the original attractions to open at Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom. It’s been operating for 50 years come this October, but the theme seems lacking by today’s standards.

The speedway is 0.4 miles long and takes up a fair amount of land in Tomorrowland itself. The race track could be repurposed to help give it a more futuristic and vibrant theme. A new attraction theme might help refresh the thrill of racing, and seem more fitting for the concept of Tomorrowland. The racing game Sugar Rush certainly would be a good fit!

Sugar Rush: Wreck-It Ralph

Sugar Rush is a kart racing game set on tracks made of candies, cookies, and other sweets. We were introduced to the arcade game in the 2012 Wreck-It Ralph movie.

As it is a racing game, racers must race on tracks that pass through landscapes made of sweets, candies and chocolate. The speedway itself is filled with exciting twists and turns like Gumball Gorge and Cakeway. It has many attractions like Diet Cola Mountain, King Candy’s Castle, and the Sugar Rush Speedway. Wouldn’t it be exciting to such a landscape in Magic Kingdom?!

The idea of a video game-style race course would be a great asset for Magic Kingdom. For starters, it will add to the futuristic aesthetic of the upcoming Tron roller coaster coming soon to the theme park. It would also be competition for another video game race course (Mario Kart) if one comes to Universal Orlando in the near future.
