I have three children ages 10 and under and we’ve been visiting the Disneyland Resort regularly since my oldest was a year old. You may think that’s crazy, but Disneyland really does have something for every age! It’s a magical place for kids and kids at heart and I love experiencing the park through my children’s eyes. Now that the theme parks of the Disneyland Resort have reopened, here are some tips for young families visiting Disneyland:

Plan ahead. First of all, before Guests even arrive at the park, they’ll want to download the Disneyland app for useful information like attraction wait times, park maps and access to mobile dining.
Start out strong. Begin the fun in Disney California Adventure park, where there are many attractions suitable for young children. Kids 32” or taller will love Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, where they can ride on a tractor as it whips and whirls around the dance floor while Mater’s catchy tunes blare from his jukebox. Heck, I’m an adult and I love Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree! Or, how about some friendly competition? At Toy Story Midway Mania!, families will love zipping through this 4D game. For a journey under the sea with the whole family, check out The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.
Let the adults have fun, too! There may be some more thrilling rides that the younger kiddos in the family aren’t yet ready (or tall enough) to take on. But that doesn’t mean adults have to miss out on the fun! Take advantage of Rider Switch: one adult can wait with non-riders while the rest of the party enjoys an attraction. Then, just switch roles with another adult and they will be allowed to experience the attraction without waiting in the regular queue again. Guests can use Rider Switch for hair-raising moments on the Incredicoaster and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission BREAKOUT!
Keep it classic. Move over to Disneyland park to enjoy classic attractions, such as King Arthur Carrousel, check out the magical makeover that Snow White’s Enchanted Wish recently received, or soar with the family to Never Land on Peter Pan’s Flight.

Don’t forget to eat! Guests are bound to get hungry between all these exciting experiences, so they should be sure to plan out meals and snacks. Quick service restaurants, such as Red Rose Tavern feature Kids’ Disney Check Meals, which meet Disney Nutrition Guidelines. Everyone can re-fuel and be ready to take on the next attraction!
Take care of the little ones. In between all the fun and excitement of the day, Guests may need to take time out to care for their little ones. The Baby Care Centers are the perfect place to do this! Available in both parks, these comfortable facilities offer helpful amenities for parents with infants and toddlers, such as nursing rooms with chairs, changing room and feeding area.
End on a high note! Guests can begin to wind down from their perfect day with a relaxing ride on the Disneyland Railroad, as they take in all the sights of Walt Disney’s original park. Stay aboard for the entire journey or take advantage of stops in New Orleans Square or Mickey’s Toontown.
Take home a keepsake. As Guests prepare to say, “See ya real soon!” to the Disneyland Resort, they should save a few moments for souvenir shopping on famed Main Street, U.S.A. or Buena Vista Street! Guests will want a memento or two to remember the best day ever. Until next time!
