What Are The Most Romantic Places to Propose at WDW?

You’ve probably seen it before – a picture of two people, looking so happy in love, right after they got engaged in front of Cinderella’s Castle.  And why not?  Disney is one of those places where people build some of their best and most treasured memories.  So if you are looking to pop the big question anytime soon, consider Disney as a great backdrop for your unforgettable moment.

But wait, you say, Disney is enormous! How do I even begin to figure out where to propose?

Well, I’m glad you asked, because in addition to being a DA, I am also a bit of a hopeless romantic!  In fact, I know “someone” who has spent one too many afternoons watching Perfect Proposal on TLC.  (It’s definitely not me.)

So without further ado, here’s my list of the most romantic places to get engaged in Disney World:

  1. Cinderella’s Castle.  Let’s start with the most iconic.  Picture your sweetheart, getting down on one knee right in front of the castle that stands for one of the greatest love stories ever told.  There’s a reason why this is a favorite location for proposals at Disney; this is as classic and timeless as it gets.
  2. In front of [insert your favorite ride here].  There is something to be said for a proposal that incorporates what represents you as a couple, so why not your favorite ride at Disney?  It might be a little bit tough to do Tower of Terror or Haunted Mansion, but it could be nice on the Liberty Square Riverboat.  Or the Walt Disney World Railroad?
  3. On top of the grand staircase at the Grand Floridian.  My family and I once had dinner reservations at 1900 Park Fare and we saw a couple getting engaged at the top of the grand staircase in the main lobby of the Grand.  You could hear the music playing from the Grand Floridian Lobby Society Orchestra and it was just beautiful.
  4. Go on a horse-drawn carriage ride.   If you’d prefer something outdoors and close to nature, you can make your grand proposal following a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Fort Wilderness Resort or through Port Orleans Riverside.
  5. Fly high above Downtown Disney.  Characters in Flight lets you fly above Downtown Disney on a tethered balloon. Your view of Lake Buena Vista and the surrounding areas stretch out for miles!  It is roughly a six-minute flight, so you won’t have to rush that speech!
  6. Watch Wishes, beach-side.  I don’t know what it is about Wishes, but I always get a little emotional when I hear that little girl start singing “Star light, star bright” while fireworks are erupting in front of me.  Main Street is likely to be crowded during this time, so it may not be the best spot for a proposal, but the good news is you can watch Wishes right on the beach at the Polynesian while they pipe in the music.
  7. At your favorite Disney restaurant.  From Cinderella’s Royal Table to Victoria & Albert’s to California Grill, there are so many options to choose from.  Some restaurants around Magic Kingdom will even offer you a great view of Wishes!  And don’t forget, you can make arrangements with Disney for a special glass slipper to be presented to you at some point during the meal, which makes the perfect prop for your proposal!
