We already know about the incredible lands planned, from the nostalgic charm of Super Nintendo World to the fantastical realms of How To Train Your Dragon and Universal Classic Monsters. But the one burning question on every theme park fan’s mind remains: when will the grand opening be?

A recent tweak to Universal’s annual pass promotions might have just thrown us a juicy clue. The program previously offered three free months to new passholders, but that promotion JUST ended. The sun setting of the promotion left us wondering: was the timing of the program programs ending purposely done to coincide with the anticipated opening of Epic Universe?
Here’s the logic: Traditionally, theme parks experience a surge in attendance after the launch of a major new attraction, let alone a whole new theme park! Could Universal be strategically ending this specific promotion to coincide with the anticipated opening of Epic Universe in late summer 2025? With a late summer opening, the free months on the annual pass would expire conveniently around the time the park opens its doors. This strategy would ensure passholders do not cancel their passes while they await for Epic Universe to open (thanks to the promotion), but ensures they will need to renew (and possibly upgrade?) at the time the new theme parks opens its gates!
While this is an interesting theory, it’s important to remember that it’s just speculation. Universal hasn’t officially confirmed a connection between the pass promotion and Epic Universe’s opening date. Even without concrete confirmation, the speculation surrounding the annual pass promotion adds another layer of intrigue to the Epic Universe hype. It suggests Universal might be strategically planning for a late summer launch, a timeframe that aligns with previous announcements about the park’s opening.
