When Will Star Wars Land Open at Disneyland and Disney World?

As many families planning a Disney getaway shift your focus to vacations in 2019, a question that’s cropping up a lot lately here at Disney Addicts is what the opening dates are for the incredible Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion that is slated to open on both Coasts.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is being built on both Coasts with expansions happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, FL and Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. This stunning new land will put guests in the middle of the of Star Wars action with two signature attractions including one allowing visitors to take over the controls of the Millennium Falcon on a secret mission and another that puts guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. We here at Disney Addicts are pleased to let you know that rough timings for the openings of both expansions were revealed this week and are as follows.

Galaxy’s Edge Disneyland – Will open in Summer of 2019
Galaxy’s Edge Hollywood Studios – Will open in Fall of 2019

Galaxy’s Edge is set on the Planet Batuu – This remote outpost on the edge of the Galaxy is busy crossroads along the sub-lightspeed trade routes. Its importance has made it a home for those in the Galaxy who prefer to stay out of the mainstream making it a haven for smugglers, rogue traders and adventures. Not only will you find the two amazing attractions listed above but the expansions will also feature “The Cantina,” a place to grab some space-aged grub and blue milk, new character dining experiences and special marketplaces inspired by the ornate and exotic markets of Istanbul and Marrakech where you’ll find a wide array of Galactic Treasures.

Will the Star Wars-themed hotel open at the same time? Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios is also slated to get a Star Wars -themed hotel that will be like nothing you’ve ever experienced before and will fully immerse guests into their own exciting Star Wars storyline. Disney World has not yet set an opening date for this state-of-the-art project but it is slated to open later than Galaxy’s Edge.
