Why Disney World needs an It's a Small World Holiday Overlay 1

The holidays at Disney parks bring holiday overlays to select attractions. Jungle Cruise becomes Jingle Cruise, Haunted Mansion at Disneyland becomes Haunted Mansion Holiday, and it’s a small world becomes it’s a small world holiday. But not every park gets the same holiday overlays.

At Disneyland ‘it’s a small world’ becomes ‘it’s a small world holiday’ for the holiday season. The attraction gets a spectacular overlay both inside and out! The Disneyland website describes the attraction as an exuberant holiday experience:

“Set sail along a wondrous wintry waterway transformed with whimsical décor. Behold jubilant regional adornments all along your world tour of good cheer. Listen as the costumed chorus of children sings the classic “It’s a Small World (After All)” song and traditional holiday tunes.

The enchantment begins as you approach the iconic façade, which is adorned with thousands of shimmering lights for the season.”

Holiday decorations from around the globe are added to the scenes in ‘it’s a small world’. Holiday music is added to the classic “It’s a Small World (After All)” song. There are even holiday scents added to the attraction! Guests love this holiday overlay so naturally, we want it added to the same attraction in Magic Kingdom.

‘it’s a small world’ in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is housed differently than the attraction at Disneyland. It does not have such an ornate exterior like at Disneyland. Christmas lights and decorations can still be added to the exterior and to the interior where the boats are loaded.

The Walt Disney World version of ‘it’s a small world’ is a shorter ride than at Disneyland, meaning fewer scenes to add a holiday overlay to. The attraction wouldn’t need to be closed for too long to put up the overlay. It shouldn’t be too difficult for Disney to duplicate the holiday version of the attraction at Disney World.

Guests visiting Walt Disney World would be ecstatic to get to experience ‘it’s a small world’ in a new way!
