Whether your visiting Disneyland Resort for the first time or for the fiftieth time, if you’re looking to indulge in something off-the-beaten path then why not give one of these amazing tours a try. Disneyland offers one year round and two seasonal offerings that let you follow in Walt’s footsteps, celebrate the holiday’s in style and even let you in on some behind-the-scenes secrets. So next time you’re visiting the West Coast Mouse be sure to sign up!
1. Disney’s Happiest Haunts Tour – I can’t think of a better place to spend Halloween than at Disneyland! They sure know how to throw a party each year and this tour is the perfect way to add a little bit of extra spooky magic! The tour, with the help of your “Ghost Host” takes you on a journey throughout Disneyland for 2 hours of spooky tales, frightening fun and special Halloween treats . Happiest Haunts has gone through many incarnations since it first started and has shifted more toward a distinctly Haunted Mansion focus. You’ll learn a lot about the lore and history surrounding this much-loved attraction as well as how it fits within the framework and can be linked to other attractions within Disneyland.
Disney’s Happiest Haunts tour lasts approximately 2 hours and last year’s tours set visitors back $85 per person. Included in the cost was a special Halloween treat, a commemorative trading pin and a FASTPASS to ride Haunted Mansion anytime that day.
Disneyland has already revealed that the tour will be a part of this year’s Halloween line-up but hasn’t said yet whether there will be any changes from last year. We’ll keep you posted as soon as the exciting details about this year’s offering are revealed!
2. Walk In Walt’s Footsteps Tour- Back in the day the big draw of this amazing tour was it actually took visitors into Club 33. Sadly that’s no longer part of the mix but this does remain a perfect option for Disneyland lovers and historians. This 3 1/2 hour walking tour around Disneyland spins a wonderful narrative of Walt’s life, his inspiration for Disneyland and the time he spent here. Highlights include Disneyland Railroad and learning more about Walt’s Love of trains, jumping to the head of the queue at two Disneyland attractions (usually Alice in Wonderland and the Haunted Mansion) but most importantly being treated to a tour of the Dream Suite created specially for the Year of a Million Dreams.
The tour also includes lunch or dinner at Jolly Holiday depending on your tour starting time. Guests also receive a commemorative pin.
The cost to attend is $109 per person with tours running either at 9:30 am or 12:00 pm.
3. “Holiday Time At Disneyland Resort” Guided Tour – Disneyland has already announced that this holiday favorite will be making a return in 2017 and also hinted that format will be changed up a wee bit offering a new experience for those who have attended in the past. Though official word has not yet been released regarding what will be included in this year’s tour, what we do know from years past is that the tour encompasses both Disney California Adventure and Disneyland. The running time is typically 2 1/2 hours with tours offered twice daily. Last year’s times were 11:am – 2:00 pm.
In years past the tour would take visitors on both Haunted Mansion and it’s a small world to enjoy the holiday overlays but last year this was removed from the itinerary and the tour was more of a walking history of Christmas at Disneyland. However guests on the tour were still treated to VIP seating during A Christmas Fantasy Parade! We promise to keep you posted as this year’s Holiday tour starts to take shape.
Guests on the tour typically receive a commemorative pin, hot chocolate (in a keepsake mug) and gingerbread. In 2016 guests were also treated to a sample of the much-loved peppermint bark from Candy Palace.
Disney will begin offering the tour in November and the cost would appear to be $87 per person.
Guests considering any of the tours listed above should note that valid theme park admission is required. Disney reserves the right to change any of the elements listed above. Because there is a considerable amount of walking involved with each of these options, I tend to not recommend tours to families with young children.
Reservations for the offerings listed above can be made starting 30 days in advance and by calling 714.781.TOUR.
