With Splash Mountain closing in just a few short weeks to begin its transformation into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, there has been a lot of chatter regarding which attractions Disney should retheme. How about the attractions at Disney World that we absolutely, in no circumstances want to be rethemed or changed whatsoever? Here are 5 on my “do not touch” list.
The Haunted Mansion
This attraction is not only a classic but a cult classic that has a huge following. Many avid Disney goers have a deep-rooted connection to this spooky, dark ride and would have a huge issue with it changing in any way. Personally, I’d like to see Haunted Mansion Holiday added to Walt Disneyworld, but that’s about all the change I’d be able to tolerate.
Jungle Cruise
Another classic Disney attraction we want to remain unchanged is Jungle Cruise. From the cheesy banter and jokes of the tour guide to the fun ‘Jingle Cruise’ holiday overlay, this attraction has stood the test of time and we hope it stays exactly how we remember it!
Pirates of the Caribbean
So, we’ve seen this attraction undergo a few changes throughout the years. We saw the auction scene change and the addition of the Captain Jack Sparrow animatronic in multiple scenes. Even these changes were met with some disagreement from fans and guests. As long as the main scenes and more importantly, the smell, stays the same, I personally am ok with minor changes here and there.
It’s a Small World
Ok, so if you didn’t grow up going to Disney and have a nostalgic connection to this attraction I can understand how you may see it as annoying or outdated, but if you are like me you are brought back to your childhood every time you hear that iconic song. Very few Disney attractions could be considered more iconic or classic than ‘It’s a Small World’. The theme of this slow boat ride is unity and finding things in common despite our differences, and I think the world really needs that message!
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Another one of my all-time favorite Disney attractions that I hope is never touched has to be The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. While Disneyland Resort chose to retheme their Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction into a Guardians of the Galaxy theme, I personally love the Twilight Zone theme and would be utterly devastated to see it go. This happens to be one of my favorite attractions and I love everything about it from the line queue to the characters the cast members play.
