Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is one of Disney’s moderate resorts located in the Disney Springs area. Here, guests can revel in the romance and pageantry of New Orleans’s historic French Quarter. Cobblestone streets, gas lamps, wrought-iron balconies, and fragrant magnolia blossoms evoke the Antebellum era and colorful Mardi Gras characters and jazz keep things lively at this resort. Here are 5 reasons why you should choose Port Orleans French Quarter for your next Walt Disney World visit.
Size
Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter is the smallest of the moderate resorts. Everything is very walkable and in close proximity to the pool and other amenities such as the lobby, the store, the arcade and the amazing quick service location, Sassagoula Floatworks. There is also only one bus stop at this resort which makes transportation to and from the theme parks easy and efficient. Because of its smaller size, there really isn’t a bad room location.
Pool
Located in the center of the resort is Dabloon Lagoon. This whimsical pool has vibrant colors and a super cool water slide in the shape of a sea serpent. King Neptune sits atop Scales, the sea serpent water slide, and watches the fun of the Mardi Gras celebrations in the pool below. Next to the pool is a fantastic splash pad complete with fountains and tipping buckets of water.
Transportation
While there are buses to take guests from the resort to the Walt Disney World theme parks, if guests want to explore Disney Springs, they have another transportation option! Disney water taxis offer guests a leisurely cruise to Disney Springs from both Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside. It’s definitely a more scenic route!
Food
The only place at the Walt Disney World Resort where you can find delicious beignets is Port Orleans French Quarter. These delectable treats can be found in the bakery at the Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory. Fried fresh to order and topped with powdered sugar, these special beignets are served with your choice of warm caramel, chocolate or chicory coffee dipping sauce. Ok so this reason is basically all about the beignets but you can get other delicious New Orleans-inspired menu items from Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory as well.
Sister Resort
Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside is the sister resort to Port Orleans French Quarter which means you can enjoy all the amenities at Port Orleans Riverside and then head back to the quiet of Port Orleans French Quarter. It’s a very easy and scenic walk over to Port Orleans Riverside. At Riverside, you’ll find a fabulous table service option at Boatwright’s, a fantastic lounge offering live entertainment with Yehaa Bob on select nights at the River Roost, and you are able to pool hop to make use of the fun main pool at Ol’ Man Island swimming hole.
Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter is not to be missed! The recently renovated rooms with hardwood floors, extra space under the beds for storage, and upgrades like USB ports and wall-mounted toiletries, are clean and comfortable. You have to see for yourself all of the charms of the Big Easy!
