Whether you’re planning on heading to one of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks early for an ADR (or Advance Dining Reservation – a must-do for all character and sit-down dining experiences in the Parks), or to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours – chances are you’ll need to take a Disney Bus to get there. So if you’re wondering How early do Resort buses start heading to the WDW Theme Parks? Then read on!
In my experience, the buses generally will run at least an hour (usually more) before the first scheduled dining reservations or park opening – Disney knows that people schedule early meals and that people staying at their Resort Hotels want to utilize those Extra Magic Hours, and so they plan their bus schedule accordingly.
The official Disney Answer is that transportation (buses/boats/monorails) will generally start running approximately 45 minutes before a Park’s opening, but like I said it’s generally much more than 45 minutes ahead of opening time
If you’re worried about making an ADR or being there for Rope Drop, I recommend you talk to the helpful Guest Service Cast Members at your WDW Resort the night before – they can help with more specific information on transportation times, and if you think the bus won’t work for you, they can help arrange for an alternate mode of transport (like a Minnie Van, taxi or Uber)
My recommendation? I recommend you are up at least two hours before your desired Park arrival time – gives you time to dress, gather your family and belongings & walk to the bus stop so you are there AT LEAST an hour before your ADR/Rope Drop. Learn from my mistakes and give yourself ample time- so you aren’t running for a bus or running through the Theme Park to the restaurant – because running is no fun for anyone that early in the morning!
