Nestled on 750 acres of pine and cypress forest, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground evokes the timeless beauty of the American frontier. Teeming with such wildlife as deer, ducks, armadillos and rabbits, the Resort welcomes you to delight in scenic woodland trails, exciting pool areas, rootin’ tootin’ entertainment and hearty country eats. Here are our top 5 reasons you should choose Fort Wilderness for your next Walt Disney World vacation.
Cabins
If you are traveling with a larger family, looking for amenities like a full kitchen and living area, and/or love the great outdoors, then the cabins at Fort Wilderness are for you! They sleep up to six people, are on their own lots (meaning you don’t have to worry about noisy neighbors after a long night at the parks), and fall into the Moderate category for Walt Disney World Resort hotels. All of the cabins also come with bunk beds (which are a hit with small kids) as well as a queen bed and a pull-down bed in the living room.
Campsite
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is also a campground for guests that like to camp or stay in an RV. The lots can accommodate vehicles of up to 45 feet in length and up to 10 guests are allowed to stay in 1 plot. These plots are usually a great value as prices are typically under $100 a night for those want to pitch a tent to slightly over $100 for a full RV hook-up.
Fun Dining Experience
Visitors to Fort Wilderness will definitely want to take advantage of the fantastic dining opportunity you’ll find on the grounds. Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is located in Pioneer Hall and is part hootenanny part vaudeville-style stage show and a whole heap of fun. This dinner show is guaranteed to have you laughing, singing and tapping your toes as you dine on an all-you-can-eat fried chicken, BBQ Pork Ribs and Corn on the Cob.
Activities
There are so many activities for guests at Fort Wilderness! There are 2 pools, one with a 67-foot corkscrew waterslide. Tri-Circle-D Ranch is on-site where you can take a carriage ride, pony ride, wagon ride, or go horseback riding! Fort Wilderness Resort has volleyball courts, jogging trails, Segway Tours and archery classes. You can also navigate the resort’s waterways by kayaking, canoeing or motorboat! Fishing excursions are also available.
Close to Magic Kingdom
Nestled along the shores of Bay Lake, Fort Wilderness offers regular boat service to and from the Magic Kingdom. In around 10 minutes guests can go from the serenity of the campgrounds to the excitement of the parks. Regular boat service also operates between Fort Wilderness and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for those who want to grab a bite at the Whispering Canyon Cafe or Signature Dining Restaurant, Artist Point. Fort Wilderness also offers regular bus service taking guests to and from the three other theme parks and water parks.
