Pixar has released a long list of successful animated films over the past 30 years. Some of their notable franchises include Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Incredibles, and Finding Nemo. These films introduced audiences to classic characters and unique worlds of imagination. But there’s another great film we can’t forget. Ratatouille!
Ratatouille proved to be a big hit with audiences. It showcased French culture, food, and the joy of cooking. It also had a charming message to inspire people of how a great artist can come from anywhere.
Ratatouille
The 2007 Pixar movie had a great story and memorable characters. It’s worth rewatching this movie if it’s been a while since you last watched it. The movie is inspirational to children since it features the lives of chefs and what daily life is like in a restaurant kitchen. Ratatouille shows how both Remy and Alfredo Linguini gain self-confidence through their adventures. It’s a fun movie to get children interested in cooking at home!
Epcot’s Flower and Garden Topiary
Epcot’s Flower and Garden Topiary – Chef Remy’s Ratatouille Recipe
Those who visit Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival this year will find a special treat. There’s a topiary dedicated to Remy in the France Pavilion. It’s worth taking a closer look at his topiary area for a few reasons. Disney planted herbs, such as basil and thyme, in pots surrounding Remy’s topiary. It highlights some of the common herbs we can grow at home and use for cooking. It’s also a reminder of how Remy hunted for the best quality herbs he used in his cooking!
Chef Remy’s Ratatouille recipe is listed on a sign beneath his topiary.
Since I enjoy cooking, I thought I’d try copying Remy’s recipe and made my own version of ratatouille. It’s an elegant dish made with simple ingredients. Ratatouille is a classic French countryside dish made with vegetables. Would you try cooking your own? It’s a great idea for a family night!
Our ratatouille dish tasted fantastic when we made it. It provides a good source of daily vegetables, too!
Meeting Remy and Emile at Disney Parks
Remy and Emile come out occasionally to meet their fans! They don’t have regular character meet and greets, but they do appear for special occasions. We’ve found them at Epcot’s dance parties during the Food and Wine Festival. They also appear at DVC and runDisney events. Many Ratatouille fans will jump in line to see these characters whenever they appear in Disneyland or Walt Disney World!
These two are a ton of fun to meet!
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
The upcoming Epcot attraction is highly anticipated! It offers a unique perspective in an immersive ride experience set in Paris. Guests board a mouse-shaped vehicle and it’s a trackless ride system. You’re shrunk down to the size of a mouse and see what it’s like for Remy to scurry around a French kitchen.
Many are excited about this upcoming attraction. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is set to open later in Summer 2020. We’ll update our fans with details once an opening date is announced.
Anyone Can Cook
There are a few ways to enjoy the Pixar movie. Of course, you can watch Ratatouille at home. You can also celebrate it in the kitchen by trying French-inspired recipes and making your own creative dish. There are opportunities to find merchandise featuring Remy at Disney Parks, too. Will you be going to Epcot later this year to check out Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure?
