Extra Costs to Budget for at Disney World
When preparing for a Disney trip, it’s good to have a budget that covers big expenses like flights, resorts, tickets, and dining. However, there are extra costs to budget for as you plan your trip to the magical world of Disney. These extra costs can sneak up on you if you aren’t ready for them. We don’t want that to happen to you so we are bringing them to your attention!

Transportation
The first extra expense to account for is transportation. This can be somewhat perplexing, considering you may have heard about Disney providing free transportation for guests. This is indeed accurate. Within the vast expanse of the Walt Disney World Resort, guests have access to complimentary boats, buses, monorails, and the skyliner for their convenience.
The extra cost comes in getting to the Walt Disney World Resort. You’ll need to budget for getting from the airport to your hotel and back. There are many different options available, but all are an extra cost.
Mears Connect stands out as the most cost-effective choice. Travelers can make reservations for this service in advance of their trip. Upon arrival at Orlando International Airport, they will be directed to a motor coach that will transport them to their Disney Resort.
It’s important to note that this service is shared, so while it is the most budget-friendly option, it may not be the quickest. Guests should be prepared for potential wait times at the airport and the possibility of multiple stops before reaching their Disney resort.
Extra Magic
To infuse your trip with an extra dose of enchantment, you’ll want to budget some extra money. Walt Disney World offers an array of captivating tours that provide a unique park experience. Consider ‘Keys to the Kingdom,’ which guides guests through the inner workings of Magic Kingdom. At EPCOT, ‘Behind the Seeds’ offers a close look at the gardens featured in ‘Living with the Land,’ while in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, special tours bring you up close to rhinos and elephants for a truly unforgettable experience.
Disney parks host special events throughout the year, like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or After Hours Events, which offer guests an opportunity to savor additional Disney magic. While these experiences are truly exceptional, they do come with an added cost.
Tipping
While you’re in the process of budgeting for your Walt Disney World vacation, it’s essential to remember to set aside funds for tipping. Although the majority of cast members at Walt Disney World cannot accept tips, there are specific instances where it’s a good idea to keep some cash on hand.
It’s a good idea to have a few dollars on hand to show appreciation to those who assist with your luggage during your trip. The bell service at Disney resorts not only looks after your luggage while you venture into the magic but also helps you get to your room. Keeping some money ready for them is a courteous gesture.
In 2024, dining plans will make a return at Walt Disney World. It’s important to note that while these plans allow guests to prepay for their meals, gratuity is not included. It is customary to tip between 18 and 20% at restaurants where cast members provide table service. Enjoying certain meals at Walt Disney World, like those at Cinderella’s Royal Table or Chef Mickey’s, can add a significant extra cost if you’re not prepared. Be sure to review the menus in advance so you can budget accordingly, factoring in tipping.
