Disney Gift Cards provide many benefits such as flexibility, savings, budgeting when planning your Walt Disney World vacation.
When clients ask me for tips to help them plan for an upcoming Walt Disney World vacation, purchasing and using Disney Gift Cards is always a recommendation that is high on my list. Prior to relocating to central Florida, Disney Gift Cards were my go-to options for saving for (and paying for) our trips. Disney Gift Cards provide an excellent way to budget for your next Walt Disney World vacation, and may even afford you the ability to save some money as well!

Budgeting
Prior to using Disney Gift Cards, we relied on the Disney Vacation Account as a means to allocate funds for our Disney trips. After the Disney Vacation Account program was sunsetted by Disney, we transitioned to using Disney Gift Cards. They can be purchased in a store or online, are available in a wide range of amounts, and can be purchased as often as you need. Funds can be transferred easily between gift cards using the Disney Gift Card website, allowing you to consolidate your gift cards.
Disney Gift Cards also make budgeting for meals and snacks while on property a breeze, especially with the continued pause on the Disney Dining Plan. The traditional Disney Dining Plan, which affords 1 table service meal, 1 quick service meal, and 2 snacks per day was offered at a price of around $78 per adult per day and $31 per child per day. Saving an equivilant amount via gift cards can ensure you have enough funds saved up to spend on meals and snacks throughout your vacation.
Paying
Disney Gift Cards are as good as cash at Walt Disney World resort. As long as the location can accept card payments, they will accept a gift card (note: some carts and kiosks are not able to accept card payments. Additionally, while a vast majority of Disney Springs locations accept Disney Gift Cards, some may not).
You can even use the gift cards to pay for your trip via your travel agent or the Walt Disney World website, providing an easy way to pay off your vacation on an incremental basis. If you are charging items to your room during your vacation, you can hit up the front desk throughout your stay and pay off your balance using gift cards to prevent the room charges from hitting your credit card.

Saving
One of my favorite benefits of using Disney Gift Cards to pay for a Walt Disney World vacation is the ability to save! Using a Target Red Card, for example, affords a 5% discount off the purchase price of the gift card, meaning your $3,000 Disney vacation could actually cost you $2,850. You can often find discount gift cards at membership warehouse clubs (such as BJ’s or Costco). Purchasing discounted gift cards to pay for the package, dining, and souvenirs is an easy way to save at least 5% on your next trip.
