Ahoy Disney Addicts! Does your little one dream of sprouting a tail and swimming like a mermaid or joining a pirate crew to find hidden treasure? Dreams do come true at Walt Disney World! Exciting new experiences are coming soon to select Walt Disney World resort hotels that will make for some very happy little swashbucklers and mermaids at heart! In addition to pirate and mermaid adventures, there are also new offerings such as art programs, fishing excursions and so much more. Let’s dive in and discover all the details.
Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew
Captain Hook is looking for new buccaneers! Does your little swashbuckler have what it takes to join Captain Hook’s pirate crew? Now open for booking, Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew at Disney’s Beach Club Resort invites your young pirates-in-training (ages 4-12) to join in on all the fun. Pirate recruits will learn all the pirate ways as they follow clues and find hidden treasure to become part of Captain Hook’s crew. These young pirates will search the resort as well as board their pirate vessel (a pontoon boat) and sail around Crescent Lake as the treasure hunt continues. Once the adventure is over and the pirate treasure is found, the new members of Captain Hook’s crew will feast on such pirate favorites as Cannon Meatballs or macaroni and “gold” sauce! Priced at $55 per child plus tax, Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew sails away starting April 28! To get more information on this adventure or to book call (407) 824-KIDS.
Mermaid School
Calling all mermaids, school is now in session! Mermaid School is a dream come true for your mermaid enthusiast in the family as they get to magically “transform” into a mermaid! In this hour-long class, guests ages 4 and older will be fitted with a swimmable “tail” and learn to swim like a mermaid. Your little mermaid at heart will delight in the activities as they feel like a real mermaid in this new opportunity offered on select days at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach resort, and Disney Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Guest participating in the mermaid school do not need to know how to swim and will be fitted for a life jacket if needed. However, it’s important to note that at the end of class “mermaids” will collect treasure from the bottom of the pool, those wearing a life jacket may find it difficult to participate for that portion of the program. Bookings will open in mid-March and can be made by calling (407) WDW-PLAY. The cost of the class is $50 per person plus tax.
Art Programs
Let your inner artist out as you create your own masterpiece at new art programs offered at several Walt Disney World resort hotels. Led by professional artists, these art classes are mostly for guests 12 and older (with a few exceptions) and prices range from $35 plus tax to $50 plus tax per person. These classes will be held on select days and can be booked by calling (407) WDW-PLAY.

What do you think? Are you excited to try any of these new experiences? One of the many things I love about these new opportunities is that they can all be done without a theme park ticket. My family loves to take a break and have a “day off” from the theme parks in the middle of our vacation. By taking a “day off” you can relax a bit from the often-hasty pace and miles of walking during a theme park day. We enjoy shopping and eating our way through Disney Springs, relaxing at our resort pool and exploring different resorts that are on Walt Disney World property. Now, with these new offerings, we have even more fun exciting ways to spend a “day off” at Walt Disney World.
