Our Favorite Family Beaches To Visit While On a Disney Cruise

Best Beaches

We talk a lot here at Disney Addicts about all of the amazing things to see, do and explore aboard your Disney Cruise ship.  But, today we turn our attention to some of the amazing ports of call you get to experience as a family, namely some of the most gorgeous family beaches in the world.  Think clear blue water, soft sandy beaches and an amazing array of family-friendly activities.  Here are a handful of our favorites to give you just a taste of the relaxing adventure in store and to help you plan your next voyage at sea.

DCL Best Beaches

Playa Mia – Cozumel – (pictured) – For families stopping in Cozumel, Playa Mia is the perfect Port Adventure.  Guests take a 25-minute motor-coach ride from the port where you will find this grand beach and water park.  Here you’ll find something for everyone.  You can lounge on a beach chair under an umbrella or splash at the Buccaneers Bay Swimming Pool, Oasis Island Pool and the Twin Twister Waterslide. Guests can also opt to dine at a delicious international buffet (included) or take part in a wide array of water sports including kayaking, paddleboats, volleyball and soccer.  The biggest challenge of your 4-hour visit is deciding what to squeeze in as you can’t possibly see and do it all.  The cost is $73 per adult, $63 for children ages 3-9 and free for those 2 and under.

Disney Castaway Cay, The Bahamas – Ask anyone who has cruised with Disney to list their favorite perks and Disney’s private island regularly comes out tops.  Guests travelling with little ones will love the Family Beach which provides beautiful views and fun water play areas.  For slightly older kids, there’s the Pelican Plunge water slide offering hours of fun, just offshore. Adults can enjoy Serenity Bay, the Adults Only beach offering plenty of space to relax in a tranquil setting.  All food on the island is complimentary and there are also an incredible array of activities from snorkelling to bike riding, fishing and a whole lot more.  The only bad thing about Castaway Cay is saying goodbye.

Blue Lagoon Beach – Nassau, The Bahamas – This Port Adventure from Nassau is perfect for those looking to enjoy the feeling of being at their own tropical island hideaway.  Guests may even enjoy dolphin and sea lion encounters. This island is only accessible by boat and offers pristine beaches and an all-natural ocean habitat.  Guests can soak up the sun in a lounge chair, swim in the blue waters or explore the lagoon by kayak or water bike.  The cost to spend a full day at this island paradise is $73 per adult, $59 for children (3-9) and $19.00 for 2 and under.

Magen’s Bay Beach, – St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands) –  The big draw to this Port Adventure getaway is the half a mile of white sandy beaches.  Magen’s Bay is home to the premier beach on St. Thomas and you’ll quickly understand why.  There’s a quaint beachside cafe in this untouched locale making it a practical yet exotic for families.  Guest will also get to take part in a 25-minute open-air safari taxi ride which stops at Drake’s Seat, a location that offers panoramic views of the bay and Down Island.  The cost of the visit is $55 for adults, $44 for kids (3-9) while under 2s are free.

Cane Garden Bay Beach- Tortola (British Virgin Islands) – Tortola’s Cane Garden Bay is considered by many to be the finest beach on the island with restaurants, shops and bars in very close proximity.  Disney just starting stopping in Tortola in 2016 and has created an impressive line up of Port Adventures allowing guests to explore in and around this area.  Costs to indulge in all this beach has to offer varies depending on activities.

Orient Bay Beach, St. Maarten – Dubbed the “French Riviera of the Caribbean”, Orient Bay is the most famous beach in St. Maarten.  Activities like Disney’s Afternoon Beach Bash or French Riviera Beach Rendezvous are great options for those that want to relax in this tropical paradise.  For active families, Disney also offers a Family Fun Beach and Nature walk which includes boogie boarding and a guided walk through the surrounding nature reserve.

Tiki Beach – Grand Cayman  –  This island is famous for its long stretch of white sand a crystal clear blue water.  Just a short ride away from the port, this beautiful beach (part of the islands famous 7-mile beach) provides the perfect opportunities for families to swim, snorkel and play or just kick back and relax.  To get to this beautiful area of the island guests hop a motorcoach and take the 10 minute drive through George Town. Upon arrival at Tiki Beach,  guests get to enjoy a welcome fruit or rum punch.  Water sports are available and facilities include restrooms, changing areas and fresh-water showers as well as a restaurant and bar.
