If you love amusement parks, picking one to visit during your vacation can be hard, just in North America, there are more than 400 parks and attractions! Thankfully USA Today asked their reader to vote for their favorite and narrowed it down to the ten most popular ones.
So here is the list of the top 10 best amusement parks in the US:
- SEA WORLD ORLANDO – ORLANDO, FL
If you love marine life, than Sea World is the park for you. It’s the perfect mix of a zoo and amusement park with rides like Manta and Mako, a hyper coaster with deep dives, high speeds and thrills.
- SILVER DOLLAR CITY – BRANSON, MO
This is the largest family owned amusement park in the nation. When you first step in, is like stepping in an old mining town with on park entertainment, festivals, 100 resident craftsmen and more than 40 rides and attractions!
And they just added a new ride called Mystic River Falls, a rafting ride inspired by the Ozark waterways. Cool right?
- KINGS ISLAND – MASON, OHIO
Are you into roller coasters? Then King Island is the park for you. It offers 15 of them, including the world’s longest wooden roller coaster: The Beast! As well as, Diamondback, one of the top steel coasters in the country.
They also have Orion, the park’s fastest, tallest and longest steel coaster! Oh and if you are into water parks, with the same park admission, you can enjoy their water park, Soak City!
- BUSH GARDENS WILLIAMSBURG – WILLIAMSBURG
A European-themed park that will transport you to England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany and Italy back in the 17th century but more fun.
This park offers more than 50 rides and attractions that you will love.
- DOLLYWOOD – PIGEON FORGE, TENN
Did you really visited Tennessee if you didn’t go to Dollywood? Located in the middle of the Great Smoky Mountains, this country music themed parks has everything you need.
From thrill rides, coasters, kids rides and more! Plus we can’t forget the stage shows and delicious southern inspired food offerings!
- BUSH GARDENS TAMPA – TAMPA, FL
Bush Gardens is making the top 10 again but this time with the one located in Tampa, Fl. This location has an African theme, making it different than the one in Williamsburg.
This park offers thrill rides and a 12,000 animal zoo! Here you can enjoy animal shows and interactions, as well as, character encounters with Sesame Street friends!
- CEDAR POINT – SANDUSKY, OHIO
Known as “the roller coaster capital of the world”, this park offers 18 thrilling coasters covering 10 miles of track.
Cedar Point opened back in 1870 and is still running, making it the second oldest continually operated amusement park in the continent. It’s also has one of the only operating D.C Muller carousels in the world!
- HERSHEY PARK – HERSHEY, PENN
Are you a chocolate lover? Then you need to visit Hershey Park!
The park offers 70 rides, strolling shows, five stages, three additional performance areas, a waterpark and an 11 acre wildlife park, all with a single admission price.
If you are into thrill rides, you need to check out Fahrenheit, one of the park’s most popular attractions, a vertical lift coaster with a 90 degree, 121 foot lift followed by a breathtaking 97 degree drop!
- MAGIC KINGDOM – ORLANDO, FL
Of course Disney had to make the top 10 right? For those looking for a magical vacation, Magic Kingdom is the place to go!
Here you will find attractions for everyone in your family like Space Mountain, It’s a Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountains and many more.

- KNOTT’S BERRY FARM – BUENA PARK, CALIFORNIA
And last but not least is Knott’s Berry Farm. Did you know this park actually started as a berry farm? In fact, you can still eat at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant and sample the famous boysenberry jam!
Nowadays, the farm is better known as an amusement park with lots thrill rides and roller coasters like the HangTime, the first five coaster on the West Coast!
