So Disney is closed and you might be cooped up in your house socially distancing yourself from people and not able to go to your happy place right now. So in the meantime what can you do to get your Disney fix during this pandemic? Well, there are many options to bring a little fun and the magic of Disney into your home during this trying time, which might be causing some unease at the moment. I know for me Disney always has a way of easing my worries and bringing joy into my life. If you have kids they may be home from school for a while and you need ways to entertain them during this time and keep their spirits up. Here are some ideas that you can do to bring a little Disney into your home.
Disney + came just in time! Boy am I so glad to have this as an option for my little one and my family to watch. There are so many great movie options and shows to watch. From Nostalgic movies, we grew up with to new releases. Disney even released Frozen II months ahead of schedule for us! So throw on some popcorn and have a movie night with the family.
Or play some Disney games. This is a favorite past time. Any snow day growing up my siblings and I would play The Wonderful World of Disney Trivia Game. Gosh did we have so much fun playing that game! But if you don’t have a Disney board game you can get creative. Play Disney Charades. Or online with your friends you can do a name that character guessing game to stay social.
With this one, you can have your cake and eat it too! How about recreating some Disney treats. They even sell cookbooks for Disney recipes. Everything just seems to taste better Mickey-shaped! Am I right?! I like to make some of my favorite treats from the parks. Mickey pancakes and waffles anyone? That’s a sure way to please the kiddos. Also, some of the World Showcase treats from Epcot are great to learn to make. I make the crepes from the France Pavillion, so good.
Another option from the France Pavillion I like to make at home for the adults is the Grand Marnier Orange Slushy. Oh my goodness, is that one good drink and easy to make at home! You can find the recipe online. There are many great Disney treats and drinks you can make at home….. dole whip!! Have fun with it and try out some new things.
Trying to keep the little ones busy? How about some Disney Crafts. There are tons of Disney coloring pages you can print online. With this pandemic happening, I’ve seen even more at home or online options popping up, such as learning to draw character classes. I love to scrapbook. How fun would it be to make a Disney scrapbook of some of your favorite memories from the parks? Or learn to crochet a Baby Yoda! about a Mickey whimsical spring wreath to hang up? The options for this one are endless. Just use your imagination!
Okay, now I have the Figment ride Imagination song stuck in my head. So how about a Disney sing-along party?! Those Disney sing-along VHS tapes back in the day were the best! We would watch them daily! Zippity Do Dah! I have seen them on youtube but they need to get those on Disney Plus!! They just make you feel happy and you can’t help but sing along with the characters. They bring you right into the parks too! Also online you can look up ride videos and pretend with your kids you are riding your favorite Disney rides.
Now you might be getting the itch to get back to Disney, so why not start making those plans for in the future. Start saving up and even make your reservations. You can start planning your schedule for the trip, this will keep you busy and excited and you can make a count down calendar to count down the days till you are back “home”.
