When my family goes to Walt Disney World, we always make sure we factor in some character meet and greets! My kids adore meeting all of the characters, no matter who it is!! Who are we kidding, as a grown adult I even enjoy meeting the characters!
Picking which character to meet and can be overwhelming, there are so many to choose from! Of course, we have the Fab 5 that we can meet at any of the four parks, restaurants and even at your resort if you are lucky!! We can also meet the princesses! You can find them around the world in Epcot, a few in Magic Kingdom or at character meet and greet restaurants.
As my kids get older they are enjoying more of the newer characters that have been appearing around the parks. My daughter, of course, was excited to hear that Anna & Elsa appeared in the Norway pavilion, but she really jumped for joy when she heard Chewbacca was meeting in Hollywood Studios. She stood in line jumping for joy the entire time and when she finally saw him she did not disappoint in her reaction! My son, however, was excited to meet Baymax. ‘BaLala’! It was beyond exciting for him to meet him in Epcot, we even had a dance party with him!
Also located in Epcot is Sadness and Joy! If you haven’t gone to this character meet and greet yet, you must! It is so fun! My daughter and I really enjoyed jumping around with Joy practicing our happy face then practicing our sad face with sadness. This meet and greet was a serious core memory day!
New to Animal Kingdom is Kevin from Disney-Pixar’s “Up”! While this isn’t technically a traditional character meet and greet, this is still a great photo opportunity! Kevin does not stop, instead she only walks around the parks but if you are quick enough you can manage an awesome picture!! Once you meet Kevin make sure you head over to Discovery Island to visit Russell and Dug! This character meet and greet is also an amazing interaction, it is so fun to listen to Dug’s voice box scream “Squirrel”!
Back in Epcot guests can also meet Ralph and Venellope! We love this best friend duo! We were so excited to hear the Imagination Institute conducted an experiment that created a portal into other dimensions that allowed Ralph and Venellope to step right into the Imagworks area of the Imagination! Pavilion!!
In addition, Walt Disney World is having a “Now more than ever event” that runs until September 30, 2019! Throughout the event there are three limited time character meet and greets! In Magic Kingdom you can now meet Minnie and Mickey together in their special celebration outfits! The party room is decorated with balloons and streamers and it is sure to be a “good, good, good time!” This meet and greet is a great way to start your day with a smile on your face!
Over at Hollywood Studios Mike and Sulley from Monsters Inc. are back at the laugh factory! Found at Walt Disney Presents in Hollywood Studios, this dynamic duo is back on the “scare floor” ready to collect all the giggles to power their factory. Grab a lovable hug from Sulley for me!
Pixar Place is now open at Hollywood Studios as well!! There are so many Incredible experiences to take part in while you are there! While in Pixar Place guests can even meet Edna Mode! Be ready to strike a fierce photo, but remember…..No Capes!
Although character meet and greets are constantly changing in some aspect and in other ways not, they are still an amazing opportunity to be had by all ages! Who are some of your favorite character meet and greets at Walt Disney World?
