It is a common question when planning a Disney vacation, to stay at a Disney Resort hotel, or stay off-property? Well, recently Disney has really tried to add incentives to staying on Disney property by adding even more perks for resort guests. Let’s take a look at some of the new perks of staying at a Disney resort!

Early Theme Park Entry

For those who really missed the days of Extra Magic Hours, they are back…well, sort of. The new system allows guests of any Disney resort to access any of the 4 theme parks 30 minutes before the official park opening. The nice thing about this system is the parks have a bit more even distribution amongst guests now that the extra time is available at all 4 parks instead of just one. So get ready to rope drop even earlier!

Evening Hours

Extended Evening Hours is a new perk that only applies to guests staying in Deluxe Disney resorts. Select parks will stay open 2 hours after closing for these resort guests only. The only downside to this is that guests must follow Disney’s extended hours schedule- kind of like the old Extra Magic Hours. This is a huge benefit to staying at a Deluxe resort! Below is the current schedule for Extended Evening Hours.

Early Access to Genie + and Lightning Lane selections

By now I’m sure you’ve heard of the new pay-per-ride system at Disney World called Genie +. Genie + is a paid-for service that allows guests to choose up to 2 available attractions at a time, while individual Lightning Lane is a service that allows guests to basically “fast pass” certain attractions for a fee. Disney resort guests will be able to make their first selections at 7 am, while other park guests must wait until park opening to make their selections. This is definitely one of the largest new perks to staying on Disney property.

Early Access to Advance Dining Reservations

Another one of the major perks of staying at a Disney resort is the ability to book dining reservations the normal 60 days in advance PLUS their entire stay up to 10 days. This means Disney resort guests could actually book reservations up to 69 days in advance if they have booked a 10-day stay. While this may not seem like a huge deal, this early access could really help your chances of getting a coveted reservation at a popular spot!

Of course, the old perks such as free transportation to the parks and use of your resort facilities are still included, but as Disney is doing away with Magical Express services very soon, it is nice to see that even more benefits have been added for guests staying Disney resorts.
