There isn’t much better than the sweet-savory aroma of some holiday baking. If you’re visiting Disney World this Christmas season, do not worry, you will have plenty of chances to experience it. The parks have decked the halls, Christmas parties are going and Gingerbread houses are built! Many people take a day to stroll the resorts admiring the sugary masterpieces, count the hidden Mickeys and work up a sweet tooth. It took over 150 cast members to create these iconic displays. We thank them for their hard work and dedication. The amount of detail on these is incredible and they simply must have used some Pixie Dust.
WARNING. Do not visit them on an empty stomach. But if you do, these resorts have amazing restaurants you can visit or cookie and cocoa stand, one within the cookie!
First, we will start at the Magic Kingdom Resorts. Grand Floridian features the big daddy of gingerbread houses! This victorian style house stands 14 feet tall, complete with the cookie shop inside it. How sweet. Hoping on the Monorail and riding over to the Contemporary Resort. Here you can sneak a peek at a similar view, Cinderella’s castle. Only this one is constructed of, you guessed it, gingerbread. New this year to our list is the Wilderness Lodge. Fitting into this resort seamlessly is a rustic Gingerbread Log Cabin.
Now we are bussing it over to another favorite area, the Epcot Resorts! Beach Club Resort may have one of my favorites. This is not a house, better yet, a functioning carousel. Yes, an adorable mini carousel with horses spinning in circles. The only way it could be any cuter, would be to add a baby Yoda. Just saying. The theme changes every year, so we have a sliver of hope. There are some cookie crumbs left, but only for a miniature one. Kidding. But seriously, BoardWalk Inn has changed theirs many times over the years. Some year not having anything. So here you can find a mini replica of the BoardWalk. It features mini replicas of the Bakery, ESPN Club, Trattoria Al Forno, Flying Fish, the Seabreeze Point Wedding Pavilion, and the Crest O’ The Wave building.
Finishing our displays is another miniature and new treat. Over at Saratoga Springs, there is a little village with 5 gingerbread structures connected by chocolate stepping stones.
Wait. We’re not done. Some other non-resort stops to make if you are making it your duty to see all things gingerbread. You can also visit Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs and at the American Adventure pavilion at Epcot for fun little creations as well.
There are many things to do during your Christmas vacation to Disney. Visiting at least one of this delicious buildings should be one of those things. Bucket list item? I think so.
