What are the Best and Worst Times to Visit Disneyland Parks

I recently wrote about the best days of the week to visit Walt Disney World.  Why not explore the best days of the week to visit Disneyland?  Honestly, I am going to start out the same way as I did with my Walt Disney World article.  It is always the best time to visit Disneyland!!  With a magical vacation, you can never go wrong!

However, we all know you are spending a lot of money on possibly a once in a lifetime trip and you need to know the best times to visit!  I understand, so here we go!  Because Disneyland is smaller, generally Tuesday through Thursdays are lower crowds.  Typically, Friday through Sunday the parks are at their busiest.  Of course, this all depends on special events that are being held at that time, such as the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge which caused a surge in crowds.  Broken down by each month, here are the best and worst times to visit Disneyland.

January is always an interesting month to visit both parks.  The weather can be cooler and unpredictable causing many park goers to be unsure of what to wear or bring.  Other than that, January can be a good time to visit.  However, we suggest you avoid the first week of January to avoid the New Year crowds.  In addition, typically the week of MLK day can also be a busier time at the parks.

February proves to be the slower month before the storm of Spring Break crowds.  The weekend after MLK day through the weekend before Presidents day tends to be a lower crowd level.  However, the weekend before Presidents day through the weekend after is a very busy time for Disneyland.

March/ April

March begins the Spring Break season and the start of high crowds.  Guests visiting during this time can expect to see high crowds through the end of April.  The date Easter falls will also play a huge factor in crowd levels.

Disneyland tends to settle down a bit during May.  Throughout the week, crowd levels are typically lower and begin to have a higher crowd level again on the weekends.  This is due in large part to Spring Break crowds returning back to school and the weather starting to be more ideal for guests visiting.

June/ July/ August

June marks the beginning of summer for most guests and annual Passholders visiting the parks.  This will cause a major increase in crowds because what better way to celebrate and enjoy your summer vacation than visiting Disneyland!  Guests visiting from June through August can expect high crowds daily.  Plan accordingly!

Crowd levels die down again in September.  Students and teachers are back in school causing the crowds to decrease dramatically!  If you are able, September is the best time to visit Disneyland.

Next on the list of best and worst times to visit Disneyland, October is also a great option!  This would be my choice, mostly because I love fall and Halloween decorations!  Have you seen Haunted Mansion change for Halloween?  It is something you absolutely have to see in person!

November is also a great month to visit.  The weather is perfect, the fall decorations are up, and it’s Thanksgiving!  However, beware, the weekend before Thanksgiving through December 1st tends to be the busiest time in November to visit Disneyland.

Lastly, December.  It is officially Christmas!  Decorations adorn the streets of Disneyland and Santa Claus is definitely coming to town!  Typically, the first two weeks of December are slower.  The Thanksgiving crowds have left and the Christmas crowds have not arrived yet.  However, the weekend before Christmas through the New Year is the busiest time to visit the Disneyland parks.

Have you visited Disneyland Parks?  When is your favorite time to visit?  Which days do you avoid?
