2019 is going to be a HUGE year at Walt Disney World!!!! There are so many new amazing things to look forward to. If a trip to Walt Disney World is on your horizon in 2019 the question you are probably asking yourself is “when is the best time to go?” The answer? It depends. Depending on what you’re looking for there are several great times of the year to be at Disney next year! Let’s take a look at a few of our favorite dates (and do keep in mind that, sadly, Madam Leota wasn’t on hand with her crystal ball so there’s are just educated guesses but we based them on years of experience combined with knowledge of what is coming next at the Parks).
If Avoiding Crowds is Your Priority
Plan a trip early in the year. Mid-February is usually a safe bet for crowd avoidance. Though it is true that each year the crowds get heavier and heavier year round, our bet is that this year will see a return to somewhat normal crowd patters, at least in the first half of the year. Marathon weekends typically bring an uptick in Park attendance, so you’d be wise to avoid the Disney Princess Half Marathon on February 21-24, as well as Presidents day (February 18). February 3-9 would be when would plan a trip.
If School Breaks Dictate Your Schedule
As crazy as this may sound, summer may just be a great time to be at Walt Disney World this year! With Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening we are betting that many people will delay their trips until the end of the year. That in no way means that we think summertime will be uncrowded, but it is likely that we will see a slower summer than last. Mid to late August traditionally are the slowest parts of the busy summer season and that is when we would go this summer. If you can go toward the end of the month you’ll likely get the added bonus of having a summer vacation with a Halloween twist, as the Halloween party seems to be starting in August now.
If You Want to Experience 2019 Has to Offer
If you can brave the crowds, mid-December is when we would go and here is why: everything that is going to open this year will likely be opened and the parks will be resplendent with holiday splendor. By mid-December the Skyliner will be open, Mickey and Minnies Runaway Railway will be open and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge should be open. The new experiences will be amazing, add to the Christmas party and you have a recipe for a great time to visit! Once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens, though, you can forget about trying to avoid crowds- instead your best bet is to make the best of them. We would advise against skipping Christmas week and the week between Christmas and New Year’s as those tend to be the busiest of the whole year- this year with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge having recently opened at that time and we are envisioning absolute pandemonium. Our advice is to go anytime between December 1 and December 15.
No matter what time of year you choose, you’ll find something to love! With soany exciting new offerings, 2019 is shaping up to be the most exciting year to be at Walt Disney World yet!!!!
