I recently returned home from my first trip to Walt Disney World Resort since parks and resort hotels reopened their doors to guests. I was lucky enough to stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge for the first time, and upon arrival, I was immediately planning a trip to return! Disney does such an amazing job transporting guests into different worlds, and this beautiful property had me believing I was in the heart of the African Savannah. It truly is unique and different from any other Walt Disney World property I have previously stayed at. Here is what I really loved about my stay:
The Animals- While I knew that I would have an up-close and personal view of the savannah animals, it didn’t quite sink in until I saw them firsthand. I likely will never again have my breakfast directly in front of a perfect view of a baby zebra! It absolutely made my entire day to have this adorable baby animal and her mother a mere few feet away. What a way to start the day! Dining by the window at Sanaa was definitely more of an experience than just a meal.
The Beautiful Theming- When this resort was built, Disney went above and beyond on every detail. From the carved wooden furniture to the breathtaking lobby, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is a sight to behold. The intricate blown glass chandeliers in the lobby of Kidani Village absolutely amazed me. No corners were cut when designing and theming this resort.
The Food- While Jiko and Boma were not yet open during my stay, we had some amazing meals at Sanaa. We absolutely fell in love with the bread service offered at Sanaa and the Sanaa lounge (which was open until 11 pm for appetizers and drinks). The bread service featured a variety of Naan bread and 9 different dipping sauces. My husband is still fantasizing about the bread service weeks later! We also tried a few very delicious specialty cocktails in the Sanaa Lounge and received the top-notch service Disney is famous for from our servers and bartenders.
The Pool- The pool at Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village was everything I would expect from a deluxe Walt Disney World Resort Hotel– and more! The pool was huge and really allowed for proper social distancing. It featured a large waterside and another small waterslide for very young children. There was also a big splash pad for children to enjoy. The pool was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long, hot day at one of the parks.
There are just so many reasons to fall in love with Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! I’m already dreaming about my next visit.
