3 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Skip a Parade at WDW

We all know that we can get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Walt Disney World, but there’s one thing you shouldn’t miss, a parade at WDW!  The most magical place on earth is definitely an understatement when it comes to visiting Walt Disney World, especially the Magic Kingdom.

I remember my first time visiting and thinking, “There is no way I am going to fit in all of these rides, parades, and fireworks!”  Well, the first two times I went, I didn’t fit in everything.  I was so caught up in running from ride to ride.  I soon learned that was a huge mistake.  Once I actually stopped for a stage show or parade, I instantly felt as if this was a must-do during every trip and here’s why!

Great Place for a Break

So I say this, but I have a huge caution for you first.  This IS a great place and time for a break.  Grab some of those snacks or drinks you have been wanting to try or a quick-service meal that isn’t too messy. PSA: PLEASE clean up after yourselves!  Cast members do a fantastic job of keeping the streets clean, but they shouldn’t be picking up trays of food from your entire party.  Anyways, back to a great place to take a break.  Like mentioned, this is a great place for a quick bite to eat, especially since some people start lining up early for a “good seat”, but keep in mind.  Watching the parade will not get you out of the heat.  There might be shady spots along the parade route, but don’t get your hopes up.  Good news though, the parade doesn’t last all that long so you won’t be in the hot sung forever.

Beautiful Photographs

Even though the floats can be extremely high, there are so many great photos you could get!  I wish I could find this picture, but my very first parade Grumpy was going by and pointed right at my camera as I was taking a picture.  It was so cool to still have the interaction with the characters even though they are on a parade float.  The same goes for if you have children.  There is something so magical about capturing your child’s’ face as their favorite character comes down Main Street.  No matter what you take a picture of during the parade, they will all provide amazing lasting memories.  Just remember to still enjoy the show!  Don’t get too caught up in taking pictures during a parade at WDW.

Singing and Dancing

I absolutely love singing and dancing.  No, I am not good at either, but I still love to do it.  Which is why I love Disney parades so much.  No one cares that you can’t sing or dance!  This is the perfect place to let out your inner kid inside of you and just enjoy your time at the Magic Kingdom.  Sing your favorite songs, dance with your family, or dance your heart out during the Move It, Shake It parade!  You are sure to leave rejuvenated!

Pro-Tip

When the parade ends, wait around for a few minutes, especially if you are on Main Street.  The crowds start to disperse in different directions and can become very hectic.  During this time many people are trying to exit all at once so it’s best just move off to the side and wait.

Do you enjoy the parade at WDW?  Do you schedule these in as a must-do?
