Last night we brought you 5 things to do on a date night in Disney Springs. Well, tonight we are talking all about 5 date night ideas at Disney World Resorts. Everyone assumes you must go into the parks to have fun but really there are so many options at the resorts as well, that you might miss out on if you don’t know about them. Here are some of the more romantic things you can do with your loved one, just in time for Valentine’s Day. You’re Welcome!
Go on a romantic Horse Drawn Carriage ride. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, Riverside offers a wonderful carriage ride. First of all this resort itself is beautiful and romantic, to begin with. It will transport you to the Bayou in Lousiana, adding its rustic elements throughout the resort as you make your way around the Sassagoula River. The ride lasts around 25 minutes and costs $55.00. The carriage can host 4 adults or 2 adults and up to three children. Reservations are recommended ahead of time. Be sure to take a stroll over to get some Beignets before you go, they are delicious!
Another ride worth taking would be for the Ferrytale Dessert and Fireworks Sparkling Dessert Cruise. This is a ticketed event that you need to make reservations ahead of time. It costs $99 for adults or $69 for kids, and that is including tax and gratuity. They even give you a special souvenir to take home. You will board the ferry 50 minutes prior to the fireworks display at Magic Kingdom. They offer you a “Bon Voyage” drink as you are departing and even have a little entertainment. Aboard the vessel, there will be a dessert and specialty drink spread that is sure to sparkle and dazzle you. You even get special “Mickey Vision” glasses to put on for the fireworks show that will show it to you in a whole new light. So set sail and prepare to be amazed.
As a New Englander going to the drive-in movies is a favorite past time of mine. Well, those are far and few in between nowadays. One of my favorite date nights is going to one of the movie nights at the Disney resorts. They have schedules for what movies they are showing, at what resort, and the starting time usually around dusk or once its dark. One of my favorite resorts for this is Fort Wilderness. While yes there might be lots of kids around you can have a romantic night too.
They have quite the under the stars outdoor movie night set up, with a large screen. There is also a refreshment wagon for snacks and campfires that you can purchase smores kits for, or bring your own from home. We love to pack up our favorite movie snacks and bring our stuff to make smores and a blanket. They do have bench seating at this location. Chip and Dale make a sing-a-long appearance early on in the evening for added enjoyment. Best of all this is a free activity you can participate in at the resort! Yes, Honorable mention would have to be a movie night at the Polynesian. They give you a free bag of popcorn (which some locations do). It’s right near the dole whip stand and you can go watch the fireworks from the beach area while there. Win-win!
Adventure is out there and all-around at Disney. Another option at some of the resorts is to rent bikes to go for a nice ride. Or even better how about a two-four person Surrey bike. You can rent these Surrey bikes at The Boardwalk, Port Orleans, Saratoga Springs, and Old Key West Resorts. All very beautiful resorts to ride around. It costs $25.00 to rent one of them. Regular bike rentals are available at some other resorts as well and cost $20.00 to rent. This is a fun option to enjoy with your partner.
This one I saved for last because it is going all out. One of the most luxurious date nights. It comes with a price tag. Well worth it for the view alone. Dinner reservations at California Grill atop of the Contemporary Resort. The food is outstanding and they have a massive wine collection for all of you wine connoisseurs. The steak was cooked to perfection! I highly recommend you plan your meal for sunset or during the fireworks, you will not be disappointed with the panoramic views that are out of this world. Here is a tip, dine at sunset and then return for the fireworks, if you bring your receipt you are given access to the observation deck or California Grill Lounge to watch the fireworks. It is an unforgettable experience.
