Disney is well known for having some of the highest standards when it comes to dining. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is certainly no exception to that high standard. Some of the most iconic and popular food and drinks on Disney property are found at the Polynesian. Here are 5 island-inspired recipes that will have you thinking you are in the South Pacific!

 1. Dole Whip- Dole whip is arguably the most iconic and popular snack found at Disney. This frozen pineapple soft-serve will have you and your family doing the hula! Luckily for us, Disney just released a wonderful and easy recipe you can try at home.

Ingredients-

  • 1 large scoop of vanilla ice cream
  • 4 ounces of pineapple juice
  • 2 cups of frozen pineapple

Directions-

  • Place all ingredients in a blender
  • Blend until smooth
  • Place in a piping bag
  • Swirl into dish
  • Enjoy!

*As an adult option coconut or dark rum can be added

2. Tonga Toast- This unique and satisfying breakfast food is an absolute must-try! You really can’t go wrong with banana-stuffed French toast!

Ingredients-

  • 3-4 slices of sourdough bread, cut 1 to 1 1/2 inches in thickness
  • 1 banana
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • oil or shortening for frying
  • whipped butter/syrup/choice of topping

Directions-

  • Cut a 1- inch “pocket” out of one side of each bread slice
  • Cut the unpeeled banana in half crosswise and then split each piece lengthwise
  • Remove banana peel and stuff two pieces of banana in each pocket of bread, set aside
  • Mix sugar and cinnamon, set aside
  • Mix the egg, milk, and vanilla, set aside
  • Heat approximately 4 inches of oil in a pan to 350 degrees F
  • Dip banana stuffed bread into egg/milk mixture and soak for a few seconds to fully saturate
  • Fry on both sides for about 3 minutes or until lightly browned
  • Let drain on paper-towel or wire rack
  • Top with topping of choice and enjoy!

Ohana noodles

3. Ohana-style Noodles- Ohana means family, and your family will love this delicious and popular dish!

Ingredients-

Pineapple Glaze-

  • 2 cups of brown sugar
  • 1 and 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1 and 1/4 tablespoon fresh minced garlic
  • 1 and 1/4 tablespoon fresh minced ginger
  • 2 and 1/4 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 4 tablespoons pineapple juice, frozen from concentrate

Yakisoba Noodles-

  • Yakisoba noodles
  • Shredded red and green cabbage
  • Shredded bok choy

Directions-

  • Dissolve all ingredients, except cornstarch and pineapple juice, in saucepot
  • Bring to a boil
  • Mix cornstarch and pineapple juice and slowly add to the boiling mixture to thicken
  • Simmer for 30 minutes
  • Strain through a fine-mesh strainer
  • Saute shredded red and green cabbage and bok choy in a wok
  • Add yakisoba noodles and pineapple glaze to the wok and toss

4. Lapu- Lapu- Lapu-Lapu is definitely one of the most sought-after drinks in all of Disney, and it is served in a full-sized pineapple!

Ingredients-

  • 2 parts Meyer’s dark rum
  • 2 parts pineapple juice
  • 3 parts orange juice
  • 1 part Bacardi 151 rum (for floater)
  • 1 part sweet and sour mix
  • 1 whole pineapple, hollowed out (for cup)

Directions-

  • Mix all ingredients except Bacardi 151 together
  • Add crushed ice to chill
  • Serve in fresh pineapple and top with Bacardi 151 float

Lapu Lapu

Captain Cook’s Copycat Pulled Pork Nachos- The pulled pork nacho dish from Captain Cook’s is easily one of the best quick-service meals on property. Make them yourself to see why!

Ingredients- 

  • 9 ounces of kettle-cooked original flavor potato chips
  • 3.5 ounces wonton strips
  • 15 ounces white queso dip
  • 16 ounces fully-cooked pulled pork in BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped pineapple
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • Spicy mayo (optional to add more spice)

Directions-

  • Heat up the white queso dip and pulled pork
  • Lay down a layer of potato chips and wonton strips
  • Spoon heated white queso over the top of the chips
  • Add a layer of BBQ pulled pork
  • Top with tomato, onion, and pineapple
  • Drizzle with spicy mayo (optional for added spice)

  1. You didn’t say what to do with the cinnamon and sugar for the French toast. It just says put it aside.
