Disney cruising is the best kind of cruising! You can’t go wrong with sailing with Mickey Mouse and friends. With the current pandemic, cruising has been banned until this fall, and even then things could change. With how fluid the situation is, here are 5 reasons why you should cruise with Disney Cruise Line next year.
Safety Measures
Disney theme parks around the world have reopened with enhanced health and safety measures. While cruising is not the same as a theme park, Disney can take this time to see what works and what doesn’t. Disney Cruise Line has plenty of time to come up with appropriate guidelines for post-COVID cruising.
Cruise Flexibility Option
If you want to sail in early 2021, you can rest assured that if things change, you can adjust your sail date without issues. Guests now have the flexibility to change their sail date up to 15 days prior to departure for any cruises booked by August 31, 2020, for sailings through March 2021.
Limited Capacity?
This reason is total speculation. Disney Cruise Line has not come out with any new guidelines or protocols but since the Disney theme parks are limiting capacity to help with social distancing, it can be assumed that Disney Cruise Line might limit capacity on the ships as well. How great would that be to have fewer guests on the ship with you?!
New Itineraries
In summer 2021, Disney Cruise Line will sail a variety of itineraries around the world including a return to Greece – back by popular demand – and exciting and varied European destinations, Alaska ports and tropical locales. Plus, Disney Cruise Line will visit three first-time ports of call in Greece, Sweden and Norway.
In fall 2021, Disney Cruise Line will return to favorite destinations on a variety of itineraries, including sailings to the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Mexico, Bermuda and Canada. Throughout the season, families will enjoy itineraries featuring Halloween on the High Seas and Very Merrytime Cruises across the entire fleet.
Star Wars Day at Sea and Marvel Day at Sea are both set to return in 2021 as well.
You’ll Need a Vacation!
I don’t know about you, but I would do just about anything to be able to lay in a chair on a cruise ship and watch the ocean pass by. 2020 has been a crazy year for sure and we all deserve to have a relaxing 2021! There’s no better way to vacation than on a ship where you have the options to have fun and be active, or just relax and do nothing.

It depends on what’s going on in the world, of course, but we are headed to Greece with DCL in 2021. I’ve spent about a month total on Disney Cruise ships, and I’ve never gotten sick (besides sea sickness that one time) so I know that they’re cleaning protocols are already good. I’m sure they’ll be fantastic when they reopen.
