Disney Cruise vacations are quite expensive, although I will happily argue that they are worth EVERY PENNY. With numerous dining options included in your cruise fare, you may ask why anyone would spend extra money for the premium dining experiences available on board. The options available in the nightly dining rotation are amazing, but they are also huge spaces serving hundreds of families all at the same time. The premium dining restaurants are small, intimate venues with fantastic service and top-notch cuisine. They are also for adults only.
What options are available?
Palo
Palo is available on all four Disney ships and is available for dinner on all sailings and brunch on sailings that include days at sea. Serving Northern Italian cuisine, this restaurant features a beautiful setting with amazing sea views and again, is for adults only. You will want to make sure to arrive well-dressed, dress pants and a collared shirt for men, and a dress or skirt/slacks and blouse for women.
Palo brunch includes both a vast buffet as well as entrees available from a menu. Bring your appetite for this meal – you will want a taste of everything and there are so many options!
Dinner at Palo is a multiple course extravaganza of delicious Italian dishes. From pizza to pasta, salads to steaks, there are amazing offerings for everyone. They also offer a wine pairing with each course for an additional fee. Do not leave without trying Palo’s famous chocolate souffle for dessert. When they ask if you would prefer the chocolate or vanilla sauce, the correct answer is BOTH.
Remy
Remy is the premium dining experience available on the Disney Dream and Fantasy ships only. This restaurant features French cuisine and a menu crafted by two gifted chefs – Chef Arnaud Lallement, a 3 Michelin Starred French chef and Chef Scott Hunnel from Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian Resort in Walt Disney World. This lovely little enclave is also for those 18 and up.
Remy Brunch includes a delicious glass of champagne and an assortment of delicious French entrees. Brunch follows the same dress code as Palo – slacks and collared shirt for men, dress or skirt/slacks and blouse for women.
Dinner at Remy includes a multiple course tasting menu that includes a visit from an absolutely spectacular cheese trolley. Be sure to add on the wine pairing, for an additional charge, if you enjoy fine wines. Each glass comes with a visit from the restaurant’s sommelier who will explain why each glass pairs perfectly with each course. The dress code for dinner at Remy is more formal. A jacket, dress shirt, dress pants and shoes are required for men. Women are expected to wear a dress or a pantsuit. The food makes it well worth taking the time to get a little fancy, I promise.
Remy offers two additional dining options – the Remy Dessert Experience, a five-course dessert and coffee that includes a discussion with the executive and pastry chefs. There is also Petites Assiettes de Remy, a six-course small plate and wine tasting that concludes with dessert at the private Chef’s Table. These special dining experiences are available on four night or longer sailings only.
How do I book my reservation?
Reservations for the Disney Cruise premium dining experiences open on the same day as Port Adventures and other onboard activities. This date will vary based on your Castaway Club level, but if this is your first Disney Cruise you will be able to book 75 days prior to your sailing.
The fees for the dining experiences are as follows:
- Palo Brunch – $40 per person
- Palo Dinner – $40 per person, wine pairing is available for an additional $59 per person
- Remy Brunch – $75 per person, champagne pairing is available for an additional $30 per person
- Remy Dinner – $125 per person, wine pairing is available for an additional $105 per person
- Remy Dessert Experience – $60 per person
- Petites Assiettes de Remy -$50 per person
How do I choose which experience is right for me?
Disney Cruise Line put a ton of thought into crafting amazing restaurants and menus for Palo and Remy, and I highly recommend that you book at least one on your next voyage! If I have convinced you to give one of the premium dining experiences a try and you are having trouble deciding on which one, I have a suggestion for you. If your sailing has a sea day, you won’t regret the Palo Brunch experience. I’ve had a lot of amazing meals and this one is absolutely over the top. Put the kids in the club and enjoy some alone time with your significant other!
