A Closer Look Into What We Know About Epcot's Four Neighborhoods

During the recent D23 Expo in California, the Walt Disney Company announced a new, exciting vision heading to Epcot featuring Epcot’s four neighborhoods!  Epcot will be transformed into four neighborhoods; Wolrd Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature and World Discovery.  What are the new things coming to each neighborhood? Glad you asked, let’s dive deeper into each neighborhood!

World Showcase will continue to focus on culture.  This is why these few new touches that will be added to World Showcase over the next few years will help to add to the learning and experiences guests can have while visiting.  The first addition is the new UK pavilion!

With the new UK pavilion is a new Mary Poppins attraction! Guests will be able to “step in time down Cherry Tree Lane” as they enter Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane site of the Banks house. We don’t currently know exactly what this attraction will bring, but we are sure this ride will be a huge hit.  Who doesn’t love Mary Poppins?!

Heading over to France.  We have two new items coming to this pavilion.  France will feature a new table and quick service restaurant, La Creperie de Paris, brought to us by Chef Jerome Bocuse.  Also located in France is a new show that I am beyond excited for.   A Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along!!  Guests will be able to enjoy this new show created by Don Hahn.

Finally, both Canada Far and Wide as well as Wondrous China will be receiving an updated show with new stories and scenes continuing to celebrate the countries.

Neighborhood #2 of Epcot’s four neighborhoods will feature the World Celebration neighborhood, located in the front of the park featuring Spaceship Earth, which will focus on connecting guests to one another and the world around them.

As you might already know, Spaceship Earth will be receiving a major update. Spaceship Earth will undergo changes to focus on the importance of storytelling to unite the human experience. Guests will enjoy new narrations, new music and be guided by a story light throughout their journey.  Guests will also find a newly updated entryway to Epcot with new fountains, pathways and green spaces welcoming guests into the park.

As guests leave Spaceship Earth, they will be able to enjoy the new Dreamers Point. Dreamers Point will provide a new, breathtaking view of World Showcase from an elevated point.  This might also prove to be the perfect picture spot for your Instagram account!

Also located in this new neighborhood is a brand-new statue featuring Walt Disney.  Although many fans had hoped to see Lily alongside Disney, Imagineers are only focusing on Disney himself with gardens and other features surrounding him.
Lastly, A new pavilion was announced for this area as well featuring a three-level structure providing an elevated view featuring a plaza, a middle expo area, and a sky level park.  This structure will also be a central location for festivals.

The third neighborhood is World Nature that will focus on understanding and preserving the beauty, awe, and balance of the natural world.  This new neighborhood will still feature the land and seas with Nemo pavilions, including Soarin’, Living with the Land and the Nemo ride, but the neighborhood will also feature two new experiences, Journey into Water and Awesome Planet.

Journey into Water is a water-focused experience inspired by Moana.  This experience will allow guests to travel through an exploration trail where they can learn about the importance of water.

Awesome Planet will be a new film in the Land Pavilion where the beauty and diversity of the planet will be celebrated.

The last of the Epcot’s four neighborhoods is World Discovery.  World Discovery will focus on stories of science, technology, and intergalactic adventures coming to life.  Guests will still be able to experience Test Track and Mission Space, but will also be able to experience the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

On the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction,  guests will board a storytelling coaster that will rotate them 360 degrees throughout the ride to ensure all of the best viewing possibilities.  In addition, guests will also experience the first-ever reverse launch on a Disney ride!

World Discovery will also be home to the new Space 220 table service restaurant that will bring guests panoramic views of space both during the day and at night. Guests will travel up an elevator, stepping out to view Earth from 220 miles up.

Lastly, the PLAY pavilion will be opening for the 50th anniversary in 2021. This interactive city will allow guests to play games, activities, and have experiences with their favorite characters like never before, such as helping Edna Mode rid the world of uninspired style!

That’s it!  There are a lot of new beginnings headed towards Epcot’s four neighborhoods, but they all seem to be out-of-this-world!  We hope Disney is proud of the evolving Epcot as he had wished it would!
