Spring is nearly here! Many of us love spring because it heralds the return of both warmer weather and baseball season. When it comes to Walt Disney World, the spring season also signifies a popular festival at Epcot.
Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival returns next week. The 2020 Flower and Garden Festival is held from March 4th to June 1st.
This festival is a favorite for many Walt Disney World guests. The bright colors and vibrant array of plant life brings beauty to Epcot’s landscape. That’s why we are breaking down four great reasons for you to visit the Flower and Garden Festival!
1.) The Character Topiaries and Flowers
The plant and flower displays are a highlight of the Flower and Garden Festival. Seeing the Disney character topiaries brings joy to many. What’s great is how much artistic talent went into creating each unique design. You can find a mix of Disney, Pixar, and Muppet character topiaries throughout the theme park.
One of the new topiary displays this year is Remy from Pixar’s Ratatouille movie. This will be a popular exhibit given the upcoming Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride in France Pavilion. The new attraction is set to open later this year in the summer.
2.) The Garden Rocks Concert Series
Hearing live music is one of our all-time favorite pastimes. There’s real magic in hearing music and dancing to the beat. Live music is an art form where skilled performers showcase their musical talents. That’s why we recommend checking out the visiting bands performing at Epcot.
The Garden Rocks Concert series brings a wide variety of music to the festival. You’ll find classic rock and pop groups performing in the America Gardens Theatre in World Showcase. Some of the visiting bands this year include The Guess Who, A Flock of Seagulls, Plain White T’s, and Starship featuring Mickey Thomas.
3.) Festival Food and Drinks
The Outdoor Kitchens are another great experience. You’ll discover a variety of menu items and drinks inspired by the spring season. Lots of creative dishes made with citrus or fresh vegetables at several of the festival booths. One of our favorite festival booths, the Honey Bee-stro, is returning this season. Their Honey Mascarpone Cheesecake, which is featured above, is a popular dessert at the Flower and Garden Festival.
It’s a great chance to try something new. Who knows? You might be inspired to grow your own vegetable garden and cook something new at home!
4.) Flower and Garden Merchandise
The seasonal merchandise being offered this year is quite charming! First of all, the festival offers a “World in Bloom” line of merchandise featuring Minnie Mouse. From flower pots and ornaments to mugs and shirts, this line of Minnie Mouse festival merchandise offers a lot of choices.
Two other Disney characters serve as mascots of this festival… Orange Bird and Spike the Bee! Both characters will have their own collectible sipper cups available at the Flower and Garden Festival. Orange Bird will be seen on new Mouse Ears and Spirit Jerseys, too. Don’t forget to check out the limited edition Disney Pins if you’re heading to Epcot this spring!
The festival starts in a few days and runs for almost three months. It’s one of our favorite seasons at Epcot, so we hope you consider going there this spring. Let us know what you think of Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival this year!
