It’s officially Halloween time at Disneyland Resort and a highlight for anyone visiting during the Fall Season is the chance to check out the incredible Haunted Mansion Halloween-themed overlay inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Each year Disneyland’s incredible culinary team creates a new giant gingerbread house that takes center stage on the dining room table in the mansion’s Grand Hall. Here’s a handful of fun facts about this year’s creation.
This year’s Gingerbread House Features A 5-Foot Spider- This year Disneyland wanted to pay homage to monster movies with a scary spider as the focal point. This year’s house features a 5-foot spider with eerie glowing eyes and moving mandibles and legs.
12 Pastry Chefs Were Need To Put This Creation Together – Disneyland Central Bakery had a team of 12 pastry chefs on hand to do everything from baking the gingerbread to laying the gingerbread icing and fondant to create this masterpiece.
Work Started a Month Ago – Its taken the Pastry Chefs at Disney nearly a month to assemble the finished product currently on display at Haunted Mansion Holiday. Baking started in early August!
90 Lbs of Gingerbread Was Used – That’s right over 90 lbs of Gingerbread was used to form the structure of this incredible edible creation.
30 Pounds of Confectioner’s Sugar – I think you’ll agree that this is one sweet treat.
10 Pounds of White Sugar – White chocolate was also instrumental in the gingerbread display, there’s enough here to rival the loot you get while trick-or-treating on Halloween.
45 pounds of fondant – There’s is 45 pounds of fancy fondant glue holding this delicious treat together and creating many of the touches that help bring this delicious creation to life.
See the finished product yourself at Disneyland theme park where it will be part of Haunted Mansion Holiday which stays open until early January 2019.
