Sitting elegantly at the end of Mainstreet, U.S.A. in all its majesty is Cinderella Castle. Welcoming guests each day to the Magic Kingdom Park with its spectacular spires and turrets, Cinderella Castle has become an iconic landmark for Disney fans worldwide. As Disney Addicts, you probably already know that within Cinderella Castle is the elegant Cinderella’s Royal Table where you dine with princesses or Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique where your little princess or knight can have a makeover by their very own Fairy Godmother-in-Training. However, there’s more to Cinderella Castle. Did you know there is a special suite called the Cinderella Castle Suite? But, how can you spend the night in Cinderella Castle? Join me as we take a look at this fairytale come to life.
The History
The history of the Cinderella Suite is quite fascinating. Originally, the space was planned to be an apartment for Walt Disney and his family to stay in Magic Kingdom Park. Unfortunately, Walt Disney was never able to see his creation with his death in 1966, several years before the opening of Magic Kingdom Park in 1971. From 1971 to 2006 it sat mostly empty with reports that it was used for storage and even as the office for Disney telephone operators. Now that is one amazing office space! In 2006 Disney announced its plans to create the suite in Cinderella Castle, just in time for the Year of a Million Dreams celebration in 2007. The Cinderella Suite was offered as a once in a lifetime prize for a few lucky guests during the celebration that year.
A Peek Into The Fairytale
From the ornate stained-glass windows to the clock that never strikes midnight (its magically always 11:59 pm), the Cinderella Suite is full of delightful details. What would it feel like if you had a chance to spend the night in Cinderella Castle? Let’s imagine for a moment. As you enter you are greeted by your private concierge who is available to you 24 hours a day. You will be escorted to the private elevator that will whisk you up to the 4th floor of the castle. The elevator opens right up into the suite and you are immediately immersed into the fairytale.
You can relax in the sitting room with its beautiful stained-glass windows and some of Cinderella’s animal friends making an appearance on the breathtakingly detailed ceiling. With French carved details the custom-made sofa bed makes for a comfortable spot to rest. Then there is the entertainment center complete with a magical mirror that transforms into a television.
Next, take a soak in the bathtub that is surrounded by mosaics depicting forest, wildlife, and of course the beautiful Cinderella Castle. As you look up, gaze at the stars that are glistening on the ceiling above the tub.
At the end of the night, you adjourn to the bedroom that is richly furnished with 2 queen beds complete with the royal crest of Cinderella on the custom-designed headboards. The beds look comfortable enough for even your pickiest prince or princess.
To add to the ambiance in the room is the antique limestone fireplace that gives the look of a burning fire using fiber optics without providing any heat. Located right above the fireplace is a beautiful painting of Cinderella … watch closely as the painting transforms into a television.
Oh yes, I could spend days, weeks, or even months here in the lap of royal luxury.
The Cost
As the most sought-after suite on Walt Disney World Property, how much would you guess the cost would be per night? Any guesses? Well … believe it or not, no amount of money can reserve this suite. That’s right, a stay at the Cinderella Castle Suite cannot be bought. The suite is by invite only. Disney uses it mostly as part of special prizes or giveaways. It also doesn’t hurt if you are a top celebrity, as it is rumored that the likes of Mariah Carey, Tom Cruise, and even a Jonas brother have had the opportunity to stay in the suite. One of the most recent occupants was the popular YouTube “Bucket List” family during their 30 stays in 30 days at Walt Disney World. But that means there is a chance, make sure to keep a lookout on Chip & Company for information on special giveaways Disney announces through the year and maybe you can win a night in the suite. A girl can dream, right?
