Disney has some breathtaking views. Sometimes I go just to simply walk around and take in the sights, not even venturing on any rides, but to just be in awe of the masterpiece Disney has created. Okay, I’ll admit I probably get snacks too, but all that walking will build up an appetite. Truly it is one of my favorite places to go for an afternoon walk. I am blessed enough to live close by so I can take advantage of walking around Disney often. Here are some of my favorite places to go for a stroll around Disney World.
Main Street USA: “I’m walking right down the middle of Main Street USA.” I mean there is a song written about it and everything. It is that quintessential ahh I’m at Disney moment. The bustling shops on Main Street are beautiful and usually decorated for the seasons, which adds to its beauty. The aromas in the air of baking, and coffee. Not to mention the cinnamon sugar waffle cone scent permeating from the Plaza Ice cream Parlor. With Cinderellas Castle the main focal point in the backdrop. Gosh, it’s exciting that moment you head into Magic Kingdom and see all of Main Street in its glory.
Epcot World Showcase: My favorite area in Disney to frequent would have to be the Epcot World Showcase. I love all things to do with travel and culture so the showcase is so captivating to me. There are so many unique things to see walking around the showcase. All the smells of different food cooking are amazing. The different performers are enthralling to watch. It great to listen to the music taking in some of those cultural experiences. It never gets old, and I’ve walked that loop hundreds of times. I still keep finding new things to discover each time. The festivals are especially enticing because you can walk around the world while you eat and drink!! The addition of the countries adds to an even more eventful and delicious walk around the World Showcase.
Animal Kingdom & Animal Kingdom Lodge: Animal Kingdom encompasses all things adventure. It’s landscaping, sights, sounds, animals every way you look keeps it interesting. You feel very immersed in the lands. They have two different trails you can go on that take you around looking at tigers, and gorillas, and many animals from all over the world. Pandora is a gorgeous sight to see as well, and at night it lights up with bioluminescent plants. It’s truly otherworldly. I had to mention Animal Kingdom Lodge as well with its panoramic views of the African Savana with all the wildlife coming close up to the windows. If you are still around for sunset it is breathtaking. At night you can even go out on the pier into the Savanna and look at the animal with night vision goggles for free! Definitely worth the trek over there.
Port Orleans Riverside: Port Orleans is a beautiful Disney Resort. It has a great walking trail along the riverbank. It’s just over a mile and a half walk around. The atmosphere is so relaxing and there is lush landscaping all around. They even do bike rentals or you could take a carriage ride as well around the river. This makes for a wonderful laid back afternoon. Then you must stop off to enjoy some Mickey Beignets for the perfect treat to your walk!
Disney Springs: This ever-changing and growing complex has so much to see and do. It is an entertainment hot spot in central Florida for locals and tourists alike. It’s a great place to people watch. There is a vast amount of live entertainment from bands to solo acts even a strolling piano performing some great hits. There are plenty of shops and restaurants. Also around the holidays one of the best walking trails. The Christmas Tree Trail has over 25 different Christmas trees, each decorated after a different Disney theme, and it snows! The possibilities are endless at Disney Springs! It’s a great place to get some fresh air and enjoy a nice walk.
